Welcome to Hillview! This beautiful family cottage with a covered porch surrounded by mature trees in a private setting is found on Taylor Island near Gravenhurst, Ontario two hours from Toronto. For your convenience, at a local marina minutes away, two parking spots and one boat slip are included for your use as well as a complimentary water taxi service in our enclosed pontoon boat for your Friday arrival and departure. Avoid travelling on a Saturday; start your vacation at the cottage with a full uninterrupted weekend. We are now accepting reservations for summer 2026. Sitting atop Muskoka granite, this destination can be enjoyed by leisurely ascending the new wide ergonomic staircase. The flat, level land around the back of the cottage is the perfect spot for a meal at the picnic table or an afternoon nap in the hammock. The screened Muskoka Room provides an excellent location to sit back and relax, experience nature or to play cards or one of the many board games provided. Kick back and enjoy one of your favourite beverages kept cool in the bar fridge. The long 41 foot dock with its 10 by 20 foot shore extension provides easy access to the paddle board and kayak rack. As well there is a new spacious deck with glass railings which offers an alternative setting to the dock to appreciate breathtaking sunrises and the exceptional view. Boasting a weed-free sandy bottom at shoreline, and a 200' waterfront, there is also deep water off the dock which provides safe docking for your boat and a great platform for swimming, diving or fishing. Race each other to the floating raft or take a leisurely tour along the shoreline in either the canoe or kayaks or on the paddle boards included for your enjoyment.
This impressive cottage has all the comforts of home including a large well equipped country kitchen with granite countertops and a dishwasher, main floor master ensuite, main floor laundry with front load washer and dryer, and UV water filtration system as well as a water cooler. Clean fresh linens, towels, and paper products are provided. The super high ceilings in the Great Room and the granite fireplace framed with comfortable furniture encourage easy conversation.
The City of Gravenhurst offers a weekly Farmers Market, golf at Muskoka Bay or other nearby golf courses, dining at one of the restaurants on the wharf, tours of the lake on one of the historic Muskoka steamships or a visit to the Gravenhurst Opera House or the Sawdust City Brewery. Hikers can enjoy great hiking at nearby Hardy Lake and Torrance Barrens. There are miles and miles of boating on Lake Muskoka with many fun destinations like Bala and Bracebridge to explore or go through the locks at Port Carling to visit Lake Rosseau and Lake Joseph.
To finish your day, enjoy a campfire at the granite patio fire pit and roast marshmallows or sit in the Muskoka chairs and stargaze in the night sky from the private idyllic surroundings of this amazing island retreat.

| This cottage was the perfect retreat for our family's week away. It offered privacy and relaxation. Sheelagh & Lou go above and beyond to make you feel at home, providing so many thoughtful amenities and a fully equipped cottage—you don't have to leave for anything other than if you want to explore beautiful Lake Muskoka. | This was our second year at Hillview, and I expect it will become a family tradition. The cottage is incredibly well-equipped, from a large kitchen with every tool and appliance imaginable, to the impressive dock with a canoe, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards.
We used the screened-in porch, and the kitchen's expansive harvest table for game-nights and made good use of the extra-large bbq. We saw deer, wild turkeys, cormorants, loons and multiple duck families and we even landed a few large and small mouth bass. Sheelagh and Lou are great hosts: friendly, accommodating and always available if you have questions. Just an all-round perfect spot for a family vacation!

| Our stay at Hillview was amazing. The cottage has everything you need to make you feel at home. The front porch, lakeside deck and screened in Muskoka room lets you enjoy the outdoors all day long. We made good use of the stand up paddle boards and kayaks. Booking, check in and arrivals are seamless. Just wonderful!!
