Welcome to Hillview! This beautiful family cottage with a covered porch surrounded by mature trees is found on Taylor Island near Gravenhurst, Ontario two hours from Toronto. For your convenience, at a local marina minutes away, two parking spots and one boat slip are included for your use as well as a complimentary water taxi service for your Friday arrival and departure. Avoid travelling on a Saturday; start your vacation at the cottage with a full uninterrupted weekend. Save $200.00 on each consecutive week booking (consecutive weekly rental cost $3600.00). We are now accepting reservations for Summer 2024. Sitting atop Muskoka granite, this destination can be enjoyed by leisurely ascending the new wide ergonomic staircase. The flat, level land around the back of the cottage is the perfect spot for the picnic table. The screened Muskoka Room provides an excellent location to sit back and relax, experience nature or to play cards or one of the many board games provided. Kick back and enjoy one of your favourite beverages kept cool in the bar fridge. The long 41 foot dock with its 10 by 20 foot shore extension provides easy access to the paddle board and kayak rack. As well there is a new spacious deck with glass railings which offers an alternative setting to the dock to appreciate breathtaking sunrises and the exceptional view. Boasting a sandy bottom at shoreline, and a 200' waterfront, there is also deep water off the dock which provides safe docking for your boat and a great platform for swimming, diving or fishing. Race each other to the floating raft or take a leisurely tour along the shoreline in either the canoe or kayaks or on the paddle boards included for your enjoyment.
This impressive cottage has all the comforts of home including a large well equipped country kitchen with granite countertops and a dishwasher, main floor master ensuite, main floor laundry with front load washer and dryer, and UV water filtration system as well as a water cooler. Clean fresh linens, towels, and paper products are provided. The super high ceilings in the Great Room and the granite fireplace framed with comfortable furniture encourage easy conversation.
The City of Gravenhurst offers a weekly Farmers Market, golf at Muskoka Bay or other nearby golf courses, dining at one of the restaurants on the wharf, tours of the lake on one of the historic Muskoka steamships or a visit to the Gravenhurst Opera House or the Sawdust City Brewery. Hikers can enjoy great hiking at nearby Hardy Lake and Torrance Barrens. There are miles and miles of boating on Lake Muskoka with many fun destinations like Bala and Bracebridge to explore or go through the locks at Port Carling to visit Lake Rosseau and Lake Joseph.
To finish your day, enjoy a campfire at the granite patio fire pit and roast marshmallows or sit in the Muskoka chairs and stargaze in the night sky from the private idyllic surroundings of this amazing island retreat.

| Hillview is a beautiful rustic/chic cottage fully and carefully decorated and equipped to make your stay cozy and comfortable. Lou and Sheelagh are exceptional at ensuring you have everything you might need throughout your vacation. From the moment you arrive their friendliness instantly makes every guest feel as a welcomed friend.
You really don't need to bring anything other than your food and clothes which certainly simplifies the whole experience.
If you're looking for an experience in the Muskokas I highly recommend to make Hillview a destination.

| What a great spot! Gorgeous location, cottage was absolutely spotless. Sheelagh and Lou were probably the best hosts of any rental we've ever rented. Made accommodations for our friend who was temporarily not able to get up the steps. Don't have a single negative thing to say about this place or the hosts.

| Hillview hosts, Sheelagh and Lou, have gone out of their way to set up a very well-cared-for/loved cottage; both nearby, will go out of their way to ensure that you have a very enjoyable stay. They helped us out; eggs and milk were on our cottage packing list but didn't make it into our coolers.
Hillview is upscale and very cottage chic with all the comforts of home! The kitchen was well stocked with supplies, dishes, glasses, cutlery, knives, pots and pans, a toaster, a coffee maker, and a wide variety of spices. The ceiling fans found in the bedrooms, in the great room, and smaller fans placed throughout the cottage made it very comfortable. Bedding linens and towels were all supplied and made packing easier. The barbeque helped make for quick dinners.
Hillview is perched atop a hill with a wide, winding staircase with multiple landings, and a dock near the water (with lounge chairs, paddle boards, kayaks, and a canoe to enjoy). It was very nice to jump into the lake from the dock for a swim. Just above the dock, there was an upper deck with glass railings with Muskoka chairs where we enjoyed morning coffee. The covered porch is where we played a variety of board games.
Granite rock hillside was beautiful. Tall trees provided ample shade yet sunshine trickled through spots. We saw wild turkeys with baby chicks; ducks on the lake.
Hillview is peaceful and calming; a place to distress and spend quality time with loved ones. We enjoyed our stay and will return !!!

| We had a wonderful stay at Hillview?it is a beautiful cottage in a lovely setting, with amazing swimming off the dock (our primary focus!). The new dock is beautifully constructed, with lots of room to spread out and enjoy the waterfront. As the cottage is at the top of the hill, be prepared for quite a climb up to the cottage, but the new staircase makes the climb as easy as possible. An unexpected surprise is that the owners helped bring our belongings up via another access point, which was an enormous help.
The cottage is extremely well appointed with everything you may need in the kitchen, and Sheelagh and Lou were very attentive in filling in any little missing items immediately and in answering any questions. As a family of 4 we had plenty of space, and the Muskoka room and beautiful porch were especially lovely to spend time in when we were up in the cottage.
Privacy is good, with the neighbouring cottages in sight, but it was very quiet. As a boat access area of the lake, there is boat traffic of course, but it was normally quite minimal and didn't interfere with our swimming. We really enjoyed the kayaks, paddle boards and canoe, which were all in great condition along with everything else. We had an amazing week!

| We were looking for a quality cottage experience and our stay at Hillview did not disappoint; Lou and Sheelagh are wonderful hosts. Hillview is well appointed, very clean, and supplied with everything that you need for your vacation. The bedding and towels, including beach towels, were top quality, and the beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed meals in the screened in Muskoka Room or at the patio set located at the end of the covered front porch, and coffee and drinks on the lower deck overlooking the lake. Swimming off the dock and the swim raft were a lot of fun for all of us especially the children. In the evenings, we had a good time playing some of the many popular board games provided or roasting marshmallows at the fire pit. All in all, we had an amazing week and hope to stay at Hillview again.
