This amazing cottage is loaded with charm and is a four minute walk to Bay Beach. The decor is inspired by Ontario landscapes, with plenty of handmade touches. The three bedrooms provide space to sleep up to six adults and one child. The cottage comes fully equipped with air conditioning, Wifi with a smart TV, appliances including fridge, stove, microwave and dishwasher and has all of your cookware and dinnerware along with outdoor propane BBQ. All bed linens, except for towels are provided. Laundry is not available for guests. Beach passes will not be provided with this listing. Guests can purchase day passes. | The 'secret garden' cottage seemed very nice in pictures. However upon arrival and organizing food in the fridge, we found mice dropping on kitchen counter. We notified host and asked if there was a mice problem and she replied that she had cleaned the place and it should not be a problem. She advised us to keep all food in the fridge and that is exactly what we did our first night. We left a cutting board with knife in the sink. Next morning there were more mice drippings on knife and cutting board in the sink. We contacted host again to let her know that it's not sanitary and we would be checking out. We had bought beach passes, so we told her we would go to the beach for the morning and check out in the afternoon as we had food in the fridge we did not want it perishable. Host agreed to fully refund. We checked out the 13th at 230 pm. We were very disappointed to not get the full refund as she had told us she would. We were supposed to check out on the 15th. Had difficulties finding another place in short notice. We ended up staying at the white oaks one night only and went back home. This was not the beach vacation we had planned. Had it not been mice infestation we would have loved to stay. At this point its not about the money, but ensuring that other renters don't experience the same as we did. We are also filling out a bylaw form with the town for rodent infestation and over grown weeds front and back. We also have pictures to send if necessary.

Unfortunately I will be refunding for the night that you did stay. In a nearly 100 year old house, it is nearly impossible to guarantee that a mouse will not get in, particularly if you leave cheese on a cutting board. For future guests who may read this and have concerns, please visit my Airbnb listing to see a robust set of reviews. | Secret Garden cottage is a little gem! This property is all about location, location, location! We were a few minutes walk to Bay beach entrance (in my opinion one of the best beaches in Lake Erie), minutes walk to great restaurants and local shops, Sunday farmer's market. Grocery story only 5 a minute drive in nearby town of Ridgeway. Laundry facilities also in Ridgeway (cutest laundromat I have ever been too). Our hostess was amazing: very friendly and promptly replied to emails. Overall a great experience and we hope to return in the near future to Crystal beach.
