This original stone cottage suite is suitable for 2 people only and is located on East Bay (Eagle Lake) approximately 10 km west of South River on paved roads, a 45 min. drive north of Huntsville and 45 minutes south of North Bay. (Approximately 3 hours north of Toronto). The nearby villages of Sundridge and South River have all the necessary conveniences (Foodland, LCBO, Beer Store, Home Hardware, gas stations and various eateries). It is close to Eagle Lake Golf Course, Eagle Lake Narrows Country Store and beach, Mikisew Provincial Park, Hockey Opportunity Camp, Coughlin's Riding Ranch, South River Craft Brewery, Copperhead Distillery, McLaren's Maple Syrup (in spring) and many cycling/walking trails (the Forgotten Trails). Arrowhead Provincial Park is 45 min. away and in winter has spectacular skating trails. Ski, snowshoeing and hiking trails are newly opened at Almaguin High School in South River and Mikisew. Sugar Dogs dog sledding is nearby. Algonquin Provincial Park is about 1 1/4 hrs. away.

The stone cottage suite is tucked away on 350 feet of lake frontage on 2 acres of wooded property, well back from the road which is on a dead end.

At this piece of paradise, you will enjoy beautiful sunsets or a family of loons from the upper or lower decks overlooking several hundred feet of water frontage. Have an afternoon siesta in the screened porch or a refreshing beverage in the 'courtyard' of perennial flowers. Explore the many islands in the bay by canoe or kayak. Fish for bass in the paddleboat. In the evening, roast marshmallows at the fire pit by the water's edge or enjoy a fire in the courtyard. Swim in the quiet, clean bay with entry to sand bottom frontage. (A canoe, paddleboat, and 2 new lake kayaks are available for use, along with life jackets and paddles) Please note: There are approximately 30 stone steps down to the water from the upper deck. The cottage is about 65 feet from the water's edge. Some mobility is required.

Nov 5th to Nov 19th.

I had a beautiful stay for 2 weeks! Just missed fall colours, but the surrounds are just beautiful! And Elizabeth is a very nice person and very accommodating.

Now, I'm saving my pennies for a future stay!!

Thank you, Dean! I hope to see you again soon!
Elizabeth

It was our seventh time in this beautiful place. Meeting our new and old friends, kayaking, swimming in the cool lake water, incredible sunsets, bird watching, reading, and knitting quickly filled our days. The Stone Cottage has settled in our hearts forever, this is the place where we rest our body and soul. Thank you, Elizabeth, for our sincere conversations and your kindness and optimism, which we are charged with until our next meeting.

Miss you both already! Til next time! Thank you!

We had a lovely stay at Stone Cottage. This was my forth time visiting and it was wonderful. I spent most days relaxing on the deck reading, watching humming birds and other small wildlife go by. We even saw an eagle. We listened to loons on the lake and relaxed. It was a piece of heaven !
The cottage was absolutley wonderful and we can't wait to return next Summer. Thank you Elizabeth for everything and making us feel so welcome.

Owner response:
Thank you so much Sandy. I look forward to seeing you again next summer!

This was our 4th visit to Stone Cottage and we have already booked our return visit is 2024! As always our stay was just wonderful and so restorative. We sat listening to the loons on the lake in the evening. During the day we went on hikes, visitied local artists studios, visited near by small towns and enjoyed walks in the forest.
Elizabeth was amazing! So welcoming and accommodating and very generous. We loved every day that we were there and wished we could stay longer. When we visit Stone Cottage we feel like we are visiting our second home. Can't wait to return again next August. Thank you Elizabeth for everything. Molly

Owner response:
Thank you so much for the positive review, Molly.
I look forward to your return next summer!

We had an amazing time at the Stone Cottage! The character and charm alone, was something we have never experienced! We spent a lot of time down on the deck by the water and fished off the dock. Caught fish and had a great time sitting by the lake. There are 2 kayaks there to use so we went out to the islands and spent time there swimming, taking in the sun, and toured around the lake. It was very picturesque since it was a beautiful sunny morning! South river has so much to offer with alot of things to do in the area but we did none of that Lol! We were so content with the cottage that we spent most of our time there instead! Oh well next time, when we return again soon! Elizabeth is genuine, kind and very sweet lady and we enjoyed our conversations! She is the best host you could ever want. She goes over and above to make sure you feel welcomed! Thank you Elizabeth for everything! We look forward to our next visit!
