The Beaver Pond Cabin is located on 2 wooded acres, overlooking a small, very quiet spring-fed lake, about 35 minutes (40 km) north of Ottawa off hwy 307, near Saint-Pierre-de-Wakefield. This square-log settlers home (circa 1820) was entirely reconstructed in 1996, carefully retaining its rustic charm. If there is a "theme" here, it might be described as a relaxed re-connection with nature, supplemented by your favorite wines, books, meals, and music. The property is most suitable for one or two couples, or a small family with children of school age. It is not suitable for severely handicapped persons. With pine floors and high ceilings, and nicely furnished with antiques and leather sofas, it makes for a comfortable get-away any time of the year; a nice place just to curl up in front of the fire. Among other things you will find a telephone, a small stereo-radio/ Bluetooth, a piano, a guitar. an eclectic library. NO cutting edge technology!
The kitchen is a good-sized post and beam addition and charming for family meals . It is equipped with a Jenair counter-top and convection-oven, toaster-oven, coffee-maker, microwave, and all necessary utensils. The old refectory table seats 6 comfortably. We request that guests do not smoke inside the cabin.
All necessities are provided for your comfort and convenience. You only need to bring your clothing. Shopping for all provisions is within a 5-10 minute drive in either the village of Saint-Pierre-de-Wakefield or the village of Poltimore.

| Based on someone else's review as well as my own experience, this cabin is an ideal "mama needs a break" getaway. The place is very well maintained but at the same time manages to be quaint and old-timey without ever seeming run down. Everything works perfectly in the kitchen and around the house, the cabin is cozy, I'm not sure exactly how to describe it except to say that the vibes are really really good. The lake in back, with dock and some sitting areas, is really gorgeous and peaceful. I intend to return for future escapes and might even (gasp!) bring the whole family.

| We come for a getaway weekend about twice a year and we absolutely love it. It is always something to look forward to. We love using the big kitchen, listening to music, playing games, going for walks, and lighting a cozy fire in the wood burning stove. Thank you so much for welcoming us to this special cottage in the woods.

| This was the hottest August we've experienced in our 10+ years coming to Beaver Pond. Despite the heat, with windows closed and fans running the cottage remained comfortable. The swims were wonderful!
Lots of bird songs this year, including a favorite hermit thrush. New sounds identified this year were the white breasted nuthatch and the great created flycatcher.
We had a welcome visit to the dock from gentle turtle. She/he remained looking at us for a good 20 minutes
I ate my first poutine (!) at the Casse-croute du Lac -- very rich and delicious!
Thank you for continuing to share your beautiful cottage that always feel like home.

| The new dock (or new to us- it's been a while since we visited in summer) was a beautiful place to spend time in the afternoon for a swim and the evening for relaxing spot to read. We do miss the beaver who used to swim by daily but the kids experienced several firsts here including canoeing and swimming in the lake. We always make good memories at Beaver Pond Cabin and I've also enjoyed it as a solo escape in the Fall when mama needs a break.

| Wonderful peaceful stay, what a gem! Easy commute from Ottawa and great communication with the owners. The weather wasn't warm and sunny but we kept cozy inside and it was very comfortable. Thank you for sharing this lovely cottage!
