Waterfront

Cottage is on a semi-private beach where there's great swimming when the tide is in and wonderful walking on the sandflats when the tide is out. The beach changes every year and there's usually seaweed and some rocks as you enter so you may want to bring beach shoes which you can then leave on the beach as you continue your walk on the sandflats. Cottage has 3 bedrooms, four piece bathroom, outdoor shower, screened-in porch, large entranceway/hallway and combined living room/kitchen area. Master bedroom has a queen size bed, rocking chair, antique wardrobe, desk and library; other bedrooms have double bunk beds with guard rails on the upper bunks.

There's a gas barbeque, chairs, coffee table and rocking chair on the screened in porch. Living room area has an airtight woodstove, couches, coffee tables and chair. Kitchen area has table, chairs, pine cupboards, fridge/freezer, stove, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, kettle, dishes, cutlery, pots, pans and breadbox. We provide bedding and towels so all you need to bring is your food, toiletries and anything special you might need. There is also a library in the cottage in case you forgot your book or want to read a different one.

The owners live close by and have a couple of kayaks which they share with cottagers who like to kayak with the seals off the point - or just go for a quiet paddle on their own. Golf courses are in Amherst(20 mins), Pugwash(30 mins), Springhill(45 mins) and Sackville, N.B(30 mins) and are easily accessible. The Bay of Fundy and Joggins Fossil Cliffs/UNESCO site are about a 45 minute drive and the cottage is centrally located so that you can easily visit the provinces of New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island for day trips. Halifax airport is a two hour drive and Moncton airport is an hour's drive.

We loved our stay at Willet Point. It was a welcoming and cozy cottage, with an amazing get-away feel. Handcrafted with love (I love all the pine wood), comfortable and spacious. We were short on time this trip to explore all the cottage could offer but we definitely want to go back and enjoy the waterfront a bit more, kayak when high tide allows! Peaceful and a great location. Thank you for sharing your cottage with us, Donna and Jim!

You're very welcome Anne Marie and thank you for coming! It was great having you, Murray and your daughter at Willet Point and we're so glad you enjoyed yourselves. It was also wonderful that you got to spend some quality time with your Nana, of whom I have many fond memories. Thank you for taking such good care of our cottage and you are welcomed back anytime to enjoy a peaceful vacation and hopefully some time to just relax and use the kayaks. Winter well, stay safe and take care, Donna

Willet Point Cottage- August 2021 Nova Scotia, my native land for the past 75+ years. There are few places in this fair province that have not delighted my eye. Willet Point has its own charm; well worth the stay. The location of the hammock, the ease of the ebb and flow of the tide that supports a multitude of wildlife, the view from the screamed-in porch, the kayaking and the homey atmosphere await you. Your hosts are right next door. Imagine your best neighbours at home. Now you are getting the idea of how Donna and Jim receive you at Willett Point. Love, Herma and Dave Amherst, NS

Thanks so much Dave and Herma - you were perfect guests and we look forward to seeing you again! Thank you for all your thoughtfulness and of course for taking care of the cottage and property as if it were your own. You are welcome anytime and hugs to you both, Donna and Jim

My first time staying, as family invited us along this year. Totally impressed. Spacious yet quaint. Perfect spot for family time. Rain or shine we explored the beach and cozied up to music and board games and enjoyed wonderful meals together. Did not miss the television, although wifi for the consecutive rainy days would have been enjoyed. We will be back.

Thank you Holly for this great review and it was wonderful to host your family! Also want to thank you all for leaving the cottage so neat and clean - it was much appreciated! Yes we purposefully did not put in a TV and glad you enjoyed your music and the board games. As mentioned on our site, the internet can be very intermittent and at times frustrating - sorry about that! Looking forward to hosting you again - take care and stay safe, Donna

We were pleasantly surprised when we walked into this cottage the first time. The pictures don't show it to it's full advantage. We found it cozy yet spacious, with lots of windows for natural light. The kitchen area is large and well equipped for whatever you may want to prepare. ( even a lobster pot) There is lots of firewood and kindling available, and we had campfires overlooking the water almost every night. When the weather turned cold, we enjoyed a fire in the air-tight woodstove in the living room. It was snug and comfy...a lovely place to read. This was the perfect place to unplug and unwind....private and serene with lots of birds to watch and shoreline to explore. The hosts Donna and Jim were very welcoming and we hope to see them again.

Thanks Libby for your wonderful review! Also thanks to you both for coming to Willet Point and so happy you enjoyed your stay and were able to relax both inside the cottage and out. Hope you have a peaceful and healthy fall/winter, stay safe and look forward to seeing you again, Donna

If a picture says a thousand words, then we need a thousand pictures to say the words that express our delightful stay at Willet Point Cottage. Donna and Jim are wonderful hosts. The location is perfect for our ?needs? for a relaxing spot. The picture showing the view from the front of the cottage invites you into a world of wonder. The tides, like the seasons of Nova Scotia, give a natural rhythm to life. The variety of bird species kept us entertained! Thanks for the time by the seaside.
