| Imagine a vacation rental with its own waterfall and lake. Magical. The cottage is modest but cozy and has everything you need. It is well located in relation to other places you may want to visit in Cape Breton. This cottage is ideal as a haven and as a base for exploring. At first, I would have been glad for wifi and cell reception, but soon I was gladder for their absence. Ruth and Aaron were welcoming, lovely hosts and two really interesting and thoughtful people.

| Authentic cabin experience in the woods of Cape Breton! Great for a couple wanting to get away for a rustic getaway, and also for families. I was travelling alone with my three daughters, and they really enjoyed the waterfall and the lake. Every cooking utensil and pot was in the most reasonable spot, with wood and starter on the front porch for the stove. A lot of care and thought was put into the details, which I appreciated. Ruth and Aaron were helpful and gracious, the perfect hosts.

| We loved the peacefulness of the lake and the surrounding views of the mountains as we swam, canoed and kayaked. We also enjoyed many hours reading in the hammock. The kids loved exploring the mountain and climbing through the river rocks. We all had such a blast sitting under the cold refreshing waters of the waterfall. This truly is a hidden paradise! It was also close enough to Baddeck and provided great access to the Cabot Trail Route. Our hosts: Ruth, Aaron and their dog Doc demonstrated warm hospitality and made our stay so welcoming. If you like to escape from the hustle and bustle of life this small, private cabin in the woods is a perfect place to unwind!

| Ruth and Aaron's cottage is the PERFECT East Coast escape.
Coming from Halifax, this was the exact break from everyday hustle and bustle that my partner and I were seeking this Summer.
You could not ask for better hosts, more privacy, better location or a cozier place to escape to.
The pictures listed do not do this cottage justice! The lake pictured, you have ENTIRELY to yourself and it is absolutely breathtaking. There is plenty of room with all of the amenities (and more) for a "rustic" cottage including a fully stocked kitchen, lovely dining nook, couches, comfy beds, a full shower and bathtub, potable water (and spring drinking water provided), well lit in the evenings, a BBQ and fire pit, canoe and kayak, hammocks, outdoor seating and lots of books provided! Lots of little extras too, that will surprise you on your arrival.
The bugs were quite abundant during this abnormally humid summer we've had but there was plenty of protection including a screened porch to keep them out of the cottage. Also what should be noted, cell phone reception is nil and about 15-20 mins drive away, there is no television and only a small radio, this suited us just fine and we found the break from technology overwhelmingly welcomed even as young professional's (usually screen heavy) who were weary of this aspect.
Our advice: Don't hesitate to book this cottage! We were pleasantly surprised by every aspect of this property and our experience.

| This has the most beautiful scenery! We loved the lake, waterfall & kayaking. We stayed when the Celtic Colours festival was going on. A great time to be in Beddeck!! Lots of music & the trees was changing at it's peck. This cabin is about 30 mins. from the college so it was close enough to all the action. Aaron & Ruth was very friendly and commentating to us.
