Birdhouse Retreat (Featured in the Globe + Mail Sept. 2022)

A unique architect designed building on 1.7 acres of forest overlooking a large beaver pond. Named the Birdhouse for the huge variety of birds sighted. Everything from bald eagles to hummingbirds.

The 860 square-foot house is a year-round retreat with two bedrooms, one bathroom and a generous great room with 12 foot high ceilings. There is also a large screened in porch with the couch and dining table. The fully equipped kitchen has a gas stove, fridge, double sink, dishwasher, bar sink, and a variety of appliances. There is a TV with a casting device and a woodstove to keep cozy. It is equipped with high-speed internet (Starlink).
The place is ideal for 2 to 4 people, with two queen size beds, and a pull out couch. The bathroom has a shower with a built-in seat. There are two large decks to the north end to the south of the building allowing you to be cool on hot days and warm in the sun on cool days.

Close to the town of Madoc, groceries and gas are only 10 minutes away. The location is ideal for day trips: Tweed 20 minutes, Bancroft 70 minutes, Campbellford 40 minutes, Sterling 40 minutes, Healy Falls 40 minutes, Vanderwater Flats 30 minutes, Prince Edward County 40 minutes, Picton 70 minutes, Sandbanks beach 90 minutes, Belleville 30 minutes, Nappanee 50 minutes, Perth 70 minutes and Ottawa two hours! It's 2.5 hours from Toronto.
