Welcome to Common Loon Cottage, a charming and character filled waterfront retreat located on a private island on beautiful Mississagua Lake. Surrounded by towering trees, open water and peaceful lake views in every directions, this two bedroom cottage offers the perfect balance of adventure, comfort, and classic cottage charm.
The island itself is home to a small friendly cottage community with 7 other cottages, each situated on its own private one to two acre lot. This thoughtful spacing preserves privacy while maintaining a warm welcoming island atmosphere. From time to time you may even be greeted y a few friendly island dogs making their rounds - a much loved-part of island life that many guests find charming and memorable.
No boat? No problem! We are able to offer a shuttle to the property at agreed upon times for check in and check out. For in between trips to the "landing" you are able to use the canoes, kayaks or peddle boat, it is a quick 5-10 minute paddle.
The heart of the experience is the large covered deck, designed for lake life at its best. Furnished for both relaxing and dining, the deck overlooks the water and provides stunning, uninterrupted views of the lake throughout the day. Stretch out in the hammock, relax in a lounger with a book, or enjoy meals outdoors while watching boats drift by and listening to the call of the loons. String lights and natural wood finishes create a warm, inviting atmosphere from morning coffee to evening gatherings.
Easily located on the front deck is the outdoor hot tub, perfectly positioned to take in the scenery. Whether you're soaking under the afternoon sun or unwinding at night beneath the starts, it's an unforgettable way to end a day on the water.
Swimming here is a true highlight. The shoreline offers clean, clear, weed-free swimming, ideal for floating, swimming, or simply cooling off on warm summer days. The gradual water access and excellent water quality are frequently praised by guests.
Mississagua Lake is a part of a seven-lake chain, offering endless opportunities for exploration by boat or paddle. Spend your days discovering hidden beaches, cruising through connected lakes, or visiting the well-known jumping rock, a favourite local spot for adventurous swimmers. The area is perfect for kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing and relaxed boating.
For added convenience, the lake features two full service marinas, one of which includes and LCBO, making it easy to access fuel, food, supplies and beverages without leaving the lake system.
Despite the peaceful island setting, you're never far from town ammenities. Buckhorn is just 15 minutes away and Bobcaygeon is only 20 minutes away, both offering full service conveniences including grocery stores, restaurants, cafes, shops, patios and seasonal events. It's the perfect blend of secluded cottage life with easy access to everything you may need.
