The Property: The cottage has two bedrooms - one equipped with a King size bed, the other with a Queen + Twin bunkbed, and one bathroom. The kitchen has been fully updated with new appliances, including additional wine / beer fridge and coffee bar. The main living area is a comfortable open concept TV / reading / games / dining room. There is a pullout couch in the living room for additional sleeping space.
Outside, mature apple trees and towering pines shade the grassy backyard area and stone pathways. On the waterfront side of the cottage, a wooden deck equipped with sun loungers steps down to a wide stone patio with outdoor dining set and BBQ. Beyond the patio our “rock garden”, giant wooden daybed lounger, and a huge stone fire pit lead the way down to the shore where wide flat rocks make for perfect swimming. Wildlife sightings - on the waterfront and on the forest side of the cottage - are a regular occurrence and often included foxes, coyote, bald eagles, black bears, snowshoe hares and more. Within a two-minute drive, you will find both a public boat launch and access to the Bruce Trail, one of 19 UNESCO World Biosphere Reserves. This area is a local favourite for fishermen, birders, divers and hikers due to our location on the Bruce, and we strive to welcome guests who share the same respect and care for this environment as the residents.
The maximum total occupancy for the property is 6 people. We are a dog-friendly accommodation, we simply ask that all visiting dogs are kept leashed / under control and on the property at all times to avoid disturbing neighbours and wildlife.
The Area: Located on the shores of Rush Cove just fifteen minutes south of the village of Lion's Head, the only cottage community on the peninsula that boasts both sunset and sunrise views in the summer months. The community is a quiet, tight-knit group of cottagers who are passionate about the history and environmental significance of the area, and work hard to protect it accordingly. The cottage road ends in a dead end, with Bruce Trail access and a small parking area. There is also a shared boat ramp down the road, where cottage residents and guests can launch motorized water craft. Greig's Caves are a local natural phenomenon, and are accessible via a spectacular stretch of the Bruce Trail that hikes directly from the cottage, or a short 5 minute drive to free parking and footpath access. The village of Lion's Head offers several excellent dining options, grocery shopping, souvenirs and local artisan products, a sandy public beach with playground and children's area, and weekly outdoor Farmer's Market during the summer season.
Booking and Payment: 50% deposit upon booking confirmation and remaining 50% of payment 48 hours prior to check-in.
