Find your soul 30 feet from the water. Located just 2h 20m from Montréal (near Disraeli/ Beaulac), surrounded by forest and resting on the majestic shores of Lac Aylmer, Tom's Place at Camp Comfort isn't just a rental—it is an architectural masterpiece and a private oasis.
Historic fishing camp heritage meets modern "rustic-deluxe" in this 2,400 sq. ft. timber-frame home full of Tom's craftsmanship. This is where you disconnect from city life to connect with your true natural self.
Camp Comfort is a quiet cottage community established by the St. Francis Fish and Game Club in 1893, back when it was accessible only by the Quebec Central Railway. Tom and his neighbours even re-built the P'tit Gare train station in 2003 to honor this legacy.
Tom's Place has been in the family since 1927, when his grandmother Telka Medock drove here all the way from Manhattan. In 1995, Tom re-imagined the property as a luxurious eco-retreat. The space is so acoustically and visually stunning that Juno Award winner Elisapie Isaac recorded her album The Ballad of the Runaway Girl here (which you can play on the turntable). Actor and naturalist Pierre Verville also stayed here in 2023.
A Cape Cod-style timberframe featuring warm hardwood floors, beeswaxed cedar paneling, and a maple sapling banister leading up a handcrafted oak spiral staircase. Built with zero toxic materials, this is a sanctuary for your health.
Named a Reader's Digest "Top Ten Adult Summer Camp" (2013) for hosting over 30 yoga retreats.
You have 130 feet of private beach. We prohibit motorboats to protect the tranquility of the lake.
The Deck-Dock: A unique 1/4 circle deck places you directly over the water—the ultimate spot for morning coffee or sunset cocktails.
Spa under the stars.
Boats: 4 kayaks, 1 double kayak, a canoe, and a Laser sailboat are yours to use.

"You exist by your smile and your presence. You exist for your joys and your relaxation. You exist in nature. You are part of the glittering sea and the lush, well-nourished plants, you are wedded to the sun, you are immersed in timelessness, only the present counts... The nights are lullabies, the days are like soft ovens in which the infinitely wise hands of a sculptor re-form the lost contours... Swimming, you are washed of all the excrescences of so-called civilization, which includes the inability to be happy under any circumstances."
— Anaïs Nin, Acapulco 1947

| What a hidden treasure ! Prime location on the widest part of Aylmer lake on opposite side of the wind so not much waves. Pebbles bottom so firm base.Perfect for swimming ( lake was at 80 for a few days !). Tom, our host knows how to make his guests feel welcome and at ease. A true nature lover and an artist that utilize all the resources around him to make the cottage a treasure box that you keep discovering during your stay. We were 4 generations to enjoy our vacation, 9 to sleep and we would've have room for more! The unique experience of the outdoor walk-in movie Teather, the frog pond, jacuzzi, friendly but respectful neighbors, bicycles, water toys, sound systems, badminton net, darts, karaoke, fire camp etc kept the little ones and adults busy the whole week .. A hassle and worry free vacation !

Owner response: Thank you for such a nice review. You dove fully into life at Camp Comfort. I just realized that our family has kept our cottage for 4 generations. So it was very special to host yours here, our first 4-generation family reunion. Great grandparents are to treasure. I so look forward to your return. | |

| We arrived late Friday afternoon and from the minute we walked in we were in wow mood. Very comfortable, warm ambiance, and you really only need to bring you, your food and cloths. Lake is beautiful and I recommend this chalet to anyone who want to get away from the hustle and bustle. The only thing I regret . Is not staying longer .

| Our family of 7 stayed at Camp Comfort to celebrate our "patriarch's" 70th birthday and have a week together after a very difficult 16 months. Tom's chalet is a great place to relax, renew and re-energize! The deck on the beach over- looking the water is perfect; we all so enjoyed the view from the hot tub as well. The big kids and little kids alike really had fun on the kayaks; and we all enjoyed sitting around the campfire after a "tough" day!! The house is equipped with absolutely everything you'll need...just bring yourselves, food and clothes (of course). Movie night next door was spectacular and the weather cooperated! This was our second stay and we plan on returning next summer for sure! Thank you, Tom, for sharing your special place with us...

| Looney Bay cinema was great. We liked the lakeside deck the most. Spent lots of time there. We were 9 people and there is lots of room. Fire pit at night along with canoes and kayaks during the day. Tom the owner puts out a lot of stuff for you to use. Great value.
