Lake of Bays (20 mins from Huntsville), Muskoka, Ontario
F603 Living Waters is a perfect getaway cottage on Lake of Bays. The Living Waters cottage is ideal for multi-generational families that will love the sandy beach with a shallow entrance as well as plenty of room indoors. The location makes it ideal for distance to surrounding towns as well as attractions to visit. Lake views can be enjoyed from many of the rooms and serene forest views at the back of the cottage. This is a large, gently sloping property which is south facing. Located just 2 hours and 40 minutes from Toronto, relax in a Muskoka chair on the dock and enjoy the view.
This cottage features two levels of living space. Beautiful wood abounds in the make up of this cottage. A deck at the front of the cottage offers a space with table and chairs for coffee in the morning, lunch, or dinner while overlooking the water.
A spacious entranceway provides plenty of storage for those items that you brought with you. From the entranceway, follow through to the kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped including a dishwasher, fridge, stove, drip coffee maker, kettle, toaster, and microwave, as well as the essential dishes, bowls, and pots and pans. There is ample counter space to prepare meals. A three-piece bistro set can be used for a relaxing coffee first thing in the morning.
The large dining room can seat six comfortably. The view of the lake can be enjoyed from the many windows in this room. There is a door leading out to the yard and the gently sloping path to the dock and waterfront.
The family sized living area boasts comfortable seating including a three-seater sofa and three comfy chairs. For those cool nights a propane fireplace is there for your comfort. The 60-inch Smart TV is in here as well as some board games to enjoy after a day in the sun. There is a den off the living room, a private area to relax, read, or play games in. It also contains a double size futon, with a powder room close by. Laundry facilities can be accessed from the entranceway or after the powder room.
Two bedrooms are on the second level. The first bedroom at the top of the stairs is bright and cheery, with a view of the lake. There are two double beds, storage cabinets, dresser, and closet. The second bright and cheery bedroom where you have a view of the woods has one queen size bed and closet. Each bedroom is private, and they are separated by a 3-piece bathroom with a shower.
A wonderfully designed Muskoka feel can be found at this cottage. Equally engaging is the partly treed outdoor area that includes a horseshoe pit and the dock for lounging in the Muskoka chairs, to the gradual few steps to swim. The end of the dock provides a depth of five feet for swimming or steps down from the end of the dock to the beach for young children.
There are two kayaks and a canoe offered for more water fun!
Living waters is fully winterized which makes it ideal for a winter getaway.
Huntsville is a short drive from the property where there are many restaurants and pubs to enjoy. The main street offers great shopping too! In the small community of Dorset, The Dorset Scenic Lookout Tower offers an observation deck that boasts a 360-degree view, 142 meters (456 feet) above Lake of Bays. For those who enjoy the view closer to the ground, Peek-a-boo Rock also offers a great view across Dorset.
Guests can travel the 80 km loop around Lake of Bays with stops in the charming hamlets of Baysville, Dwight and Dorset. Sample the decadent bakeries, fabulous restaurants, tour Lake of Bays' own craft brewery, admire local artists' work during seasonal studio tours, or cruise on a historical wooden steamship.

For downhill skiers Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area is located just east of Huntsville (about 30 minutes from Dorset). Hidden Valley offers 3 quad chair lifts and 1 tow lift.
Arrowhead Provincial Park just north of Huntsville is well known for both summer and winter activities. It has approximately 33 kms of groomed cross-country skiing and snowshoe trails for all levels. Ice skating is also available. Skis, sit-skis, snowshoes, sledge, and ice skate rentals are available during the winter. There are three sand beaches and 15 kms of hiking trails including a trail leading to a waterfall, Stubb's Falls. Rental canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, and mountain bikes are available during the summer.
