A beautiful newly built log cottage located in Haliburton, Ontario. The 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom cottage is tucked deep in the forest overlooking a quiet lake and is situated on 1.6 acres with 200ft of shoreline. We kindly ask that guests keep noise to a minimum, especially in the evenings. While the property feels very private, sound does travel easily across the lake. If you're looking for a peaceful escape, you're in the right place! If your group tends to be on the louder side, this might not be the best fit, as we're committed to being respectful neighbors. Excessive noise and disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated. The layout accommodates 8 people maximum including children and infants. As per the Highlands East By-law, we are only allowed accommodating this size of group. Welcome to our newly built, exquisite log cottage, nestled amidst the serene beauty of the forest. This stunning retreat boasts an open-concept living space with soaring vaulted ceilings and a full wall of windows, offering panoramic views of the surrounding natural landscape.

A grand rustic stone fireplace serves as the centerpiece of the living room, featuring a 55-inch TV and a cozy gas fireplace to keep you warm during cooler months.
Stay connected with high-speed Starlink internet, and enjoy popular streaming services including Netflix and Disney+.
Kitchen:
The gourmet kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials for preparing gourmet meals.
Complimentary amenities include coffee, tea, olive oil, and basic spices.
In-house chef services are available upon request and are highly praised by our guests!
Accommodation:
Our cottage comfortably sleeps up to 8 guests across four bedrooms:
Bedroom 1: King bed with ensuite bathroom (main floor)
Bedroom 2: King bed (upstairs)
Bedroom 3: Two queen beds (upstairs)
Bedroom 4: King bed (downstairs)
All bed linens and bath towels are provided for your convenience. The cottage also features two full bathrooms and one half bath. An additional outdoor shower is located on the lower patio area (seasonal availability, closed during winter). Complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are included.
Outdoor Features:
Enjoy our spacious, covered porch that provides a perfect setting for relaxation, rain or shine. The bottom deck remains sheltered, ensuring comfort even on rainy days.
A short path leads you to our tranquil lake, where you can bask in the sun from noon until sunset on our 14x20 floating dock. The lake offers excellent fishing opportunities right from the dock. We provide two single kayaks and two canoes, along with eight adult life jackets and one child life jacket.
Note: The area around the dock is shallow (3-5 feet deep) with large slate rocks. You?re welcome to jump in in, just be sure to use caution and always put safety first.
Additional Amenities:
Unwind in the sauna and hot tub, then cool off with the outdoor shower while enjoying the sunset.
Relax in the hammock and let the gentle breeze lull you to sleep.
Gather around the fire pit, listen to the crackling flames and the calls of loons, and gaze at the starry sky.
Enjoy peace of mind with our built-in home generator, ensuring uninterrupted power and comfort no matter the weather.
Winter Access & Experience at the Cabin:
Please note: A 4x4 vehicle with good winter tires is required to access the cottage during winter months. We are located on a private road that is both narrow and hilly?a photo of the steeper hill is included at the end of the album for reference.
By January (weather dependent), the lake typically freezes over, creating a magical backdrop for winter walks or snowshoeing adventures. Please note: We cannot guarantee the safety of the ice at any time?any lake activities are done at your own risk.
After a day of fresh air, warm up with a blanket and a cup of mulled wine by the outdoor fire pit, or head inside to cozy up by the gas fireplace with a mug of hot cocoa and your favourite board games.
And if you're in the mood to explore, you'll find a variety of charming restaurants and shops open year-round just a short drive away!

Other things to note:
We are located in a beautiful natural forest environment surrounded by wildlife. Please note that our property is regularly treated for pests and insects in the home. However, please understand we share this world with them and sometimes they don't understand they belong outside. We cannot guarantee 100% absence during your stay.
No boats or snowmobiles allowed
All garbage and recycling must be taken with you on departure. There is no garbage pick up in our area. Landfill information is provided with a pass. If you are unable to take with you we can arrange for garbage removal for additional fee.
Your dog MUST be well house trained and over 1 years old. Maximum 2 dogs. No puppies allowed. Dogs are not allowed to be unattended in the cottage. If you are planning to leave your dog at any time please bring a crate.

| Having stayed at many cottages over the years. I must say that this one is particularly unique and so beautiful!! From the winding hilly remote drive , you know you're finding something very special at the end of the road. You arrive at this very fairy-tale like exterior wooden log cabin nestled amount the high mature trees. It truly is a site to see. As you enter the doors you are warmly welcomed into the ever-so tasteful rustic meets modern design that flows through the cottage. With upscale bathroom and kitchen amenities - to oversize rustic antlers over the games table - and also an oversize hammock canopy that if you read or take a nap on - you may think this place is all a dream. But it's not! Skelwood is definitely a place to see and visit. Thank you Cassidy for this beautiful oasis you have all designed - we enjoyed every minute.
Ps. The sauna, hot tub ,fire pit and quaint town near by were bonuses as well!

| My family and I built beautiful memories at this cottage - it was exactly what we were looking for. There is so much we enjoyed but here are the top three things.1- The nature and beauty surrounding us was breathtaking. I was in awe every morning at the stillness and beauty of the lake not to mention enjoying the scenery from the outdoor hot tub. 2- the kitchen is fully equipped and we prepared delicious meals as a family. 3- the kids were never bored! There are plenty of board games and books to explore - the kids loved reading on the top floor hammock. It was so unique and special. Bonus is that this cottage is sparkling clean. I honestly could not have asked for a better stay. Thank you Cassidy and team!

| This cottage and property exceeds expectations. The home is beautifully appointed and tastefully decorated with thoughtful touches throughout. The view is stunning and the lake is a tranquil haven. We had glorious weather and spent every day down on the dock either swimming or in the canoe/kayak. While tucked away with plenty of privacy, the cottage is just a 20 minute drive to groceries, pharmacy, hospital etc. Communication with Cassidy was pleasant, easy and timely. We have stayed at many homes and cottages over the years, this by far was our best experience yet. Well worth it and we would highly recommend. Thanks for the lovely stay!

| We just finished a stay at Skelwood Kabin and we know we will be back! The owners have thought of everything, and then some! The cottage is stunning, decor both comforting but also upscale, and impeccably clean. All the comforts of home are provided (linens, towels, toiletries, cooking basics). They even had the most thoughtful welcome gift: wine us, s'mores kit for our kids and even dog treats for our pup!
This is without question the most beautiful cottage we have ever been to, inside and out. The lake is gorgeous, the views from the cottage are amazing and the quiet is unreal. Was the most relaxing place to refuel and reenergize. We will be back for sure!!
