Unique waterfront cottage on one of the few sandy beaches on the Bruce Peninsula. Shallow, safe water for small children. Perfect for swimming, kayaking, sailing, sand castles and spectacular sunsets! Inside is a charming original log cabin, fully renovated for comfort and convenience. Outside, extra insulation is provided by striking black siding.
Close to the towns of Lions Head and Tobermory on Georgian Bay, the Bruce Trail for hiking and bird watching and cliffs renowned for the some of the best climbing In Ontario. The Bruce Peninsula National Park and famous Grotto are a 40 minute drive away. Boat tours to shipwrecks, nearby islands and scuba diving are available in the pretty village of Tobermory at the top of the peninsula. Just off the Bruce Peninsula is the larger historic town of Owen Sound, and access to all the other small towns along the Southern shore of Georgian Bay.
The cottage is surrounded by a large garden. The interior is open plan with a beautiful view of the lake through French doors. The sunroom on the front is full of light and opening the windows allows the lake breezes to flow through. The bedrooms and bathroom are off the main area. The back door of the cottage opens into a mud room. Guests love the outdoor shower.
A large wooden deck with Muskoka chairs and table runs along the front of the cottage for beautiful lake views and breezes. In the surrounding garden there are several sitting areas, hammocks and a quaint greenhouse room for sitting in on a windy day. Patio behind the kitchen with BBQ and picnic table. Parking at the end of the driveway. There is also an area on the beach with chairs and table.
For those without school age children, the cottage is a great base in June, September and October for birdwatching and hiking the Bruce Trail. July and August are perfect for beach activities. The excellent Celtic Camp for children is 2 KMs away for those who might want to enroll their kids and stay nearby.
My family and I live in the cottage next door, so are always available to help answer any questions or deal with any issues that might arise during your stay. Occasionally we may require access to the tool shed and boat house on the property.
