Outstanding dock/beach on the wild Gatineau River with kayaks, canoe, swimming, fishing, & sun basking.
Air conditioned. Semi-private, quiet riverfront with large dock, small beach, & stunning river views is great for wading, swimming, fishing & boating. Canoe & kayaks, mountain bikes, 'Green Egg' BBQ, outdoor tent, 2x bonfire pit, trampoline, & WiFi also included.
AN ECO RETREAT
Our location is beautiful, isolated on a quiet peninsula jutting out into the Gatineau River, nestled amongst huge white pine trees. Riverfront to the north & east, pristine forest adjoins the property to the south & west.
The cabin incorporates a high-efficiency air source heat pump for heating & cooling, natural lighting from skylights set in a new R40 high-insulating roof, & makes great use of local materials & wood panel reclaimed from the cabin during the roof retrofit. There are plenty of operable windows, which allow for natural cooling at nights. Floors are a mix of reclaimed maple hardwood & beautiful slate & pebble mosaic in living room & bathroom. A reclaimed cast iron clawfoot tub allows for long baths. For colder nights, there is a high-efficiency wood-burning fireplace. A clothesline is provided for line-drying clothes the natural way, & there is a compost vessel in the garden in addition to municipal compost & recycling bin pickups.
There is also a classic 'Green Egg' barbecue for BBQing & smoking, and a conventional propane BBQ.
Guests will enjoy our herb garden & a 'forest garden' of berry bushes, fruit & nut trees. Lounge in a hammock & enjoy the flowers, wildlife, & forest garden!
OUTDOOR DETAILS
Our quiet waterfront area on the tranquil Gatineau river includes canoes, adult kayaks & kids kayaks with paddles, & lifejackets. Our beautiful dock lets you lounge in the sun on the river. Note that dock may be shared occasionally. Swimming in the river is fun, & kids can wade & play on our small sandy beach. Larger beaches are nearby at Meech Lake, Lac Phillipe.
The property includes patio seating, 2 firepits for bonfires, 2x BBQs, & riverfront picnic table.
The Lazy Cabin is great for families, with child's bunk bed (also sleeps an adult), a fun treehouse, forest playground area, bouncy slackline & large trampoline.

| Notre visite au Lazy Cabin de Greg était parfaite. Expérience Canadienne assurée avec un chalet en rondin de bois typique. L'accès à la rivière était très apprécié, nous avons eu la chance de pouvoir faire du canoë et un feu au bord de l'eau. Je recommande fortement le chalet de Greg qui est un excellent hôte. | The Lazy Cabin is a comfortable, rustic sanctuary surrounded by nature, but close to the necessities of modern life. The cabin is on a large wooded lot, with activities for everyone - trampoline, treetop tent and hanging cocoon chair for the kids, lounge chairs, multi-person hammock, and awesome firepit area for everyone. Down the trail to the riverfront there's more activities to enjoy - canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, a dock, an even larger hammock, and lounge chairs to sit on and relax. Greg is an excellent host, meeting us at the property (even though we were late), and always responding to our calls, cheerfully answering any questions that we had.
Great location, great amenities, and we had great weather for mid-September - doesn't get any better.

| Truly and amazing cottage for the whole family! Even though it rained a decent amount of our time we had an amazing stay. First off this cottage has so much character, fascinating art work is widespread from common areas to bedrooms, highlighted by dozens of curious and strange masks. Our two 8 year olds exhausted themselves on the trampoline as much as possible. Late night and early morning swims were delightful. I recommend sleeping in the tent. On an early morning canoe adventure we came metres away from a deer crossing the river. Thanks again to Greg for being an accommodating host and quick to respond.
