Ontario cottage rentals are all about nature, privacy, reconnecting with family, evenings around a campfire, exploring the lake in canoes or kayaks, swimming...well, you get the picture - and from these pictures, we think you'll find the unspoiled nature and privacy of Hersco Haus embodies all of this and more.
Located just south of Ardoch, Hersco Haus will put you in the heart of Eastern Ontario cottage country on the shore of quiet Kashwakamak Lake. This beautiful unspoiled lake will tantalize you with picturesque scenery, a plethora of islands and over 15 km (1,191 hectares) of water to explore. Kashwakamak Lake boasts a diverse fishcommunity, including Walleye, Northern Pike, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass,Rock Bass, Pumpkinseed, and Yellow Perch. Large tracts of Crown Land and a minimalnumber of cottages around Kashwakamak Lake support a diverse ecological communitywith a plethora of wildlife and fauna. This unspoiled habitat supports variousendangered and threatened species such as Golden Eagle, Bald Eagle, HenslowSparrow, Blanding's Turtle and Least Bittern.
Of course, you may choose to spend your entire week just relaxing, watching the kids play on the sandy beach or in the water, exploring the 500 ft of shoreline, or the 4 acres of woodlot. That's the beauty of renting athis very private cottage in and unspoiled Ontario landscape...you do exactly what you want.
The waterfront is easily accessible from the cottage and a shallow, sandy entry in a sheltered bay makes for private swimming. That island you see across the way? It is part of the property and yours for the week! Explore it, maybe pack a lunch and relax on the far side looking out over the lake. It's the stuff of which memories are made.
Let's step inside this beautiful Viceroy cottage. Depending on which door you use, you might enter the screened sunroom area or the main hall. Let's go to the screened sunroom first. This is a perfect spot to escape and find some quiet to enjoy for a book and a coffee. The rustle of the wind in the trees and the twittering of the birds serenade you while you finish that page-turner of a novel you've been wanting to get to. Maybe someone else in your group will deliver a coffee or glass of wine to make the experience complete.
Through the door, you'll find yourself in the sitting area/TV room. This is the spot to enjoy family movie night, catch the big game, or maybe catch up on some binge watching on a rainy day. (65' HD flatscreen).
A little further on, you'll find the kitchen and dining areas. Both of these enjoy the main view of the lake and waterfront areas. After that, there are 3 comfy bedrooms for you to catch up on that deep sleep that only comes after relaxing days at a cottage.
Out and about? The local scenery is top notch, so any drive will have you reaching for the camera. Groceries are 20 minutes away in Plevna, as is the LCBO. The area also presents chip trucks, bakeries, ice cream stands and restaurants for your culinary pleasure.A short 35 minute drive will take you to Bon Echo Provincial Park where you can enjoy great hiking trails, interpretive boat tours on Mazinaw Lake and observe the 100 m high Mazinaw Rock featuring over 260 Indigenous pictographs. Approximately 25minutes from the cottage is the Land O' Lakes Rescue Petting Farm where children and adults alike will love interacting with these special animals. The North Frontenac DarkSky Preserve is only 15 minutes away for those into star gazing. The beautiful village ofPerth is only 1 hour away, and Iif you fancy some more Canadian history or just want toget back to a city for a day, Kingston is about only 75 minutes away and Ottawa is alittle under 2 hours.
