Enjoy your stay in our bright, recently renovated (and more to come!) cottage. Lounge by the fireplace or gather around the table on rainy days for some board games (or Netflix, we won't judge!) with a view of the lake from floor to ceiling windows.
Cook a family meal or feast for friends in our full kitchen with plenty of counter space while socializing with friends thanks to the open concept space.
Need a quiet space to curl up, or a spot to sequester kids? Enjoy the smaller den/
spare bedroom space, with a second television for some quiet and calm.
Ready to venture outside?
Follow the flagstone pathway to your own private waterfront; close enough to the cottage to trek any essentials down to the lake, far enough away to set parents' minds at ease with their little ones.
With 220 feet of waterfront to yourself, you can swim in shallow water, jump off the end of the dock, or go for a quiet ride around the lake in one of three kayaks or the peddle boat available for your pleasure. Bass Lake connects to nearby Kashe Lake by a quiet, calm river for a relaxing trek around either lake, and even fishing!
At night, enjoy the sunset down on the dock, gather around the campfire and enjoy stories and s'mores, enjoy dinner outside on the large, wrap around deck, or spend a night playing board games in the screened in gazebo.
Want to venture off the property? There are plenty of nearby hiking trails, including the one-of-a-kind art-meets-nature hiking experience; the Tree Museum (10 minute drive away). A short walk down the road (or less than 5 minute drive) grants access to a larger public beach, still small enough to easily watch any little ones.
Nearby Gravenhurst hosts the revitalized Muskoka Wharf where you'll find Canadian artists handcrafted goods at the Shipyards, enjoy High Tea at Blue Willow Tea Shoppe, or enjoy dinner at family friendly Boston Pizza (say hi to server Melanie for us!) or a more grown up night out at the Dock of the Bay Steak & Seafood Grille. Venture further into town for other fabulous shopping and dining experiences, as well as easy access to groceries, essentials (including the LCBO) and last minute needs.
Barkway Lodge operates four seasons a year, offering gorgeous colours in the late summer and fall, and snowy tranquil getaways in the winter as well as summer fun.
