NEWLY LISTED THIS YEAR! NOW BOOKING SUNNY SEPTEMBER & OUTSTANDING OCTOBER 3 NIGHT MINIMUM Enjoy a relaxing vacation with your family this September/ October at our lovely, clean, newly renovated and well cared for waterfront cottage. Get outside and unwind at Cozy Oaks Cottage, located on Lower Buckhorn Lake in the Kawarthas, on the Trent Severn Waterway near lock 31 - less than 2 hours from Toronto or just over 3 hours from Ottawa.
Start your day with beautiful views and morning sun rises from our tranquil south-facing cottage dock, enjoy all day sun and fun, finishing with toasting s'mores on a lakeside fire in the evening.
The cottage has beautiful tongue-and-groove vaulted ceilings throughout and the fully equipped kitchen and dining area that opens up into the living room making for an easy and comfortable family gathering for food, conversations, laughter, fun and games. The main living room has comfortable seating to snuggle up with loved ones, to read your favourite book, watch your favourite show, or play one of the many games, puzzles or DVDs.
This area has an adjoining screened in porch that overlooks the lake. The screened in porch is a great place for an early morning coffee in your pjs, watching the water birds on the lake/wildlife that share the property, escaping the midday heat/any Ontario weather, or simply enjoying the spectacular views and refreshing lake breeze.
Outside on the lake facing deck you will find the BBQ and patio furniture to share a meal. The path down from the deck to the lake leads you to the lot that is flat and grassy, great for a round of lawn darts, badminton or other outdoor fun found in our lake shed. There is a picnic table, fire pit, bench swing and large dock for gatherings lakeside with trees bordering both sides of the property providing some privacy and shade when needed.
There is a sandy portion on the shoreline where you can wade into the water and the lake bottom is solid and shallow. It becomes softer and weedy as you walk further out. There is a swim raft that the neighbours love and share where the water is 30 feet deep with no weeds. The small surrounding islands provide an area of calm waters and low boat traffic in front of the cottage and are also great places to venture, go for a swim and to cool off.
Take out the provided kayak, the two canoes, pedal-boat or aluminum rowboat and explore the beauty of this lake. The lake is well suited for boating, water skiing and fishing, and has a large bay called Deer Bay which is particularly great for water skiing, tubing and swimming.
With two boat launches nearby, this is also an ideal spot to bring your own fishing boat and enjoy catching small- and large- mouthed bass, walleye, crappie, bluegill, perch and muskies. Catch one right off the dock!
The newly built dock extends almost 50' into the lake with a 16' x 16' area large enough for the whole family to enjoy. If you wish to rent or bring a boat of your own the dock can easily accommodate multiple boats that will float safely in our sheltered bay.
The cottage sleeps 6 comfortably (max 4 adults) as there are three bedrooms (QUEEN/QUEEN/DOUBLE) and one full, brightly lit bathroom with views of our mature treetops. There are a total of five ceiling fans, one in each bedroom and two in the main living area.

| This was our second time staying at this location. We were very happy with the furnishings provided, cleanliness and the kitchenware provided. The beds were very comfortable and there was lots of seating provided both inside and outside. I especially enjoyed the view from the cottage shoreline and the aluminum boat provided that we used for some fishing which we also found to be quite good. Our group is very happy with everything at this cottage and we are planning on booking again next year!

| This cottage wasn`t just excellent, it was MOST excellent. Communication with the owners was always prompt, detailed and extremely helpful. The cottage is located on a bit of a bay, that is sheltered from the high-traffic section of the Lake, making it quiet and private. We enjoyed just sitting on the big dock, watching the calm water, occasional wildlife and incredible sunsets and moonlit nights. The cottage itself is immaculate: a great combination of rustic and modern, and so highly and helpfully organized, including the shed by the water! This place basically had everything, including privacy. We really enjoyed sitting in the screened-in porch, and we used the canopied paddleboat to lay claim to one of the many islands nearby. Buckhorn was just a 10 minute drive away. Get a pie at the bake shop when you`re there! Danielle and Adam: thank you so much for making our stay so very enjoyable and memorable. We`ve got our eye on next summer!!

| We would love to thank our hosts for making our experience fun, relaxing, and without any issues. They went above an beyond what we expected and kept in contact with us in a timely manner. The cottage itself was very clean, very well equipped with everything we needed and more. The kitchen was top notch where many a great meals were made! The property was beautiful and our dog loved running around jumping into the water. The recreational equipment and lawn furniture had what we needed for adventure and relaxation. Thank you again for you hospitality and hope to see you again next year!

| I generally don't write reviews but we had such a great experience and the hosts (Danielle and Adam) were so amazing and helpful, I felt I had to share. We stayed for a week in August and couldn't have asked for better accommodations.
It was the cleanest cottage we've ever stayed in and you could tell it had been newly renovated. With COVID-19 and the pandemic, this was very reassuring.
The cottage had everything you could ask for including a fully stacked kitchen (it had a lemon squeezer and a pizza cutter!), every board game and all the tools and accessories that one needs to enjoy indoor and outdoor activities.
Again, the hosts went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. Gave us their numbers and let us know that we could call at anytime if we had any questions or concerns. Everything was clearly labeled with instructions as well so it was all very easy.
Once again, I cannot overstate how clean the place was. You really could tell they've taken the pandemic very seriously and everything was spotless.
We'll definitely be staying here again next year. One of the best cottage stays we've had!

| We arrived to a sparkling clean and well appointed space - the owners really did think of everything when they prepped the cottage. The beds were comfy, the open concept plan is handy to watch over dogs and/or children, the screened in porch was the most used room during our stay, the property is well lit when venturing to the dock or fire pit in the evenings, the supply of toys and watercraft was exceptional, and the communal floating dock was a fave with my teenagers. The cottage itself is lovely and well kept.
I would easily have rated this rental 5 stars but the amount of weeds in the water didn't allow for swimming from the dock, which we love to do - hence the 4 stars (which I recognize is out of the owner's control). I'm told that the exceptional heat this summer increased the number of weeds so perhaps visiting earlier in the season would fix that??
A big thank you to the owners for providing us with an exceptional space allowing for an exceptional vacation :-)
