This was our second time staying at this beautiful cottage and it was so good to be back. The setting is idyllic - gorgeous view and sunsets, lots of grass for playing and hide and seek (and swings!), a spacious and peaceful back deck, and a beach with shallow water for swimming, sand pit, and access to kayaks, canoe, and paddleboat. The cottage is very comfortable, clean, and well supplied. Our family had a great time. We also appreciated the kindness and quick responsiveness of Elizabeth and Doug. Thanks for a great end to the summer!

Katie,

Thank you for you review! It was so wonderful to see you again, and we are so happy that you had a relaxing week to end your summer before school starts up and all the hectic schedules begin. The last week of summer before school starts up again has been my favorite ever since I could remember, and at the cottage is always special with the first previews of the changing season. Looking forward to seeing you back next year!

Serendip Cottage is an ideal vacation spot to spend time with family. A short drive from Toronto has you relaxing on a spectacular beach facing SW onto Lake Simcoe. Water is shallow for little ones and there is plenty to keep them busy... a massive sand box, kayaks and a paddle boat are easily accessed. The cottage has everything one needs, it is clean and spacious. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves on the lake is a bonus for sure as is spectacular sunsets over the lake. The five of us enjoyed a very special week together and Elizabeth and Doug are most responsive when needed.

Gina - It was so lovely to meet you and Robert, your daughters and granddaughter. Thank you for the precious pictures you sent to us. You captured the essence of a relaxing stay at the cottage- the views, the sounds, the ambiance - all within a short drive from Toronto. WE look forward to your return.

This is our family's 3rd time at Elizabeth's cottage. The waterfront is located in a quiet corner of the lake that it feels that we have Lake Simcoe all to ourselves! We enjoyed swimming and boating, and the sandbox with all the toys was enjoyed for hours by the kids. The property has a fire pit where we roasted marshmallows and watched the "epic" sunset. The cottage is small, but super clean and cozy, and the property is huge, and includes a swing set. Don't forget your water shoes for the beach!

Susan,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. It was so lovely to have your family return, the children have grown so much and they are all lovely. Our grandkids had the time of their lives playing soccer on the lawn with your 5 grandchildren, it was so nice to see all ages playing so well together,?Doug was so glad that the soccer nets he bought on impulse were put to good use! WE look forward to your return next summer.

Another wonderful year at Serendip - thank you so much Elizabeth and Doug! Now, in our fourth year, coming up to your cottage feels like a reunion of sorts and we're so appreciative for your hospitality. Elizabeth and Doug are the most gracious hosts: providing a personalized welcome basket of treats, a floral arrangement from their garden, and making us feel included and welcome to enjoy the beauty of the area. It's just a magical experience sitting on the rocky beach with the kids and feeling truly relaxed - the sunsets are especially magnificent and the water sparkles in a way that can't be properly captured in photos. It is a perfect family spot that combines lots of activities for the kids (sand box, swing set, grassy lawn, shallow waters) with ideal conditions for parents to relax. We look forward to returning next year - and will hopefully be able to spend more time reuniting the kids. Thanks again for all your hospitality!

Marion,

It was so nice to have you back for another year, and it does seem like a reunion, the grandkids wait for your family every year, and have fond memories they're recount throughout the year. Your boys are growing up so fast, your family is lovely. Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We look forward to seeing you again next year. Returning guests is our reward for the care we put into preparing for our guests.

It was our first time staying at Serendip and we had a great time. Even before arriving at the cottage, Elizabeth was great at answering any questions we had regarding bringing our two little ones. We have stayed at several cottages before, but now that we have kids our priorities have changed. We were very excited about the items that were available at the cottage: crib, change table, diaper genie, the swings, and the sandbox and toys. The sandbox and the large digger were the main attraction for our toddler as he did not want to leave it. There were a lot of water toys available, but the hard part was getting the littles ones out of the sand box. The cottage is small, but it's laid out perfectly. The lot is massive, which was great to let the kids play. You have a grocery store very close, so you don't have to worry if you forget anything. We will definitely consider renting here again in the future. Thank you for the great memories!
