| If you are looking for an adorable cottage steps away from a beautiful and serene beach, you've got to check out Otter Cottage on Gabriola Island. The pictures do not do it justice. The cottage is absolutely adorable, and if you're lucky you might get to meet the resident polydactyl cat! Louise responded to all messages quickly and made sure that I was comfortable. The cottage is clean with a well equipped kitchen and comfortable bed! I was looking for a quiet retreat and was not disappointed, but next time I will bring a friend to double the joy.

Owner response: Thank you so much, Mary-Ann; I'm so happy you enjoyed your stay and found the cottage comfortable. You must be a bit of a cat-whisperer as Pancho is not usually so forthcoming with his welcomes! We look forward to your next visit. | |

| Located in Snuneymux Territory, this is a lovely, updated cottage with gracious, accommodating hosts. We found it very clean and comfortable. It had everything needed for our two week stay including reliable, speedy WiFi to get some work done. It is a quick walk to a wonderful sandstone beach next to Drumbeg Provincial Park. We walked the park practically everyday. For birders, the park in the fall when we visited had an amazing assemblage of species that hung out on the points at low tide. The views too are spectacular. Mt Garibaldi and Mt Baker are both visible from the park. We brought our sea kayaks and launched from the beach for easy paddles to the Flat Top Islands and played in the tidal rips in Gabriola Passage. We had such a good time, we plan to return in the spring.

| My husband and I spent a lovely week in Otter Cottage. Louise and Nelson were extremely gracious hosts. The cottage has everything you need for a pleasant self catered stay. The beach is just a couple of minutes walk from the cottage, through their lovely garden onto the public access path to the beach. The "beach" is not sandy but when the tide is out or even when it's coming in there is plenty of flattish space to set up your chairs or lie out on a towel on the big flat rock areas and get plenty of sun. We really enjoyed the quiet and tranquility of the place as it is well away from the busy end of the Island. Whether you want to ride your bike around the island or go hiking in the nearby park, pick blackberries or visit some of the interesting sites, staying away from the busy areas is quite easy to do. We would recommend reserving for the ferry to and from Nanaimo though, as it can be quite busy especially on the weekend. We hope to return again to this tranquil spot.

| Louise and Nelson's cottage is an ideal place to stay on Gabriola Island. This little home was spotlessly clean upon arrival and is very carefully appointed with everything you need including good coffee, fresh smelling linens, good books and a very comfortable living room to cozy up in at night. A short walk around the side of their home brings you to the lovely sandstone shoreline which is just on the border of the gorgeous Drumbeg Park. We walked along the shore several times, stopping to swim one warm day on our way home. We did tonnes of cycling and walking around the island, bought fresh eggs and produce, and read for hours by the little pond behind the cabin. This was a magical few days and I will be returning soon with my mother for her 80th birthday. A relaxing, spacious cottage with very thoughtful hosts.
