This was a huge disappointment.
The cottage is as advertised. Cozy, nothing fancy, perfectly fine if you are not going for a waterfront getaway.
The waterfront itself was dismal. There were discarded patio stones, concrete blocks, and bricks tossed in front of the 'beach.' The dock was 5 feet above the water. If you were inspired to jump off the end you were unable to do so because of the mound of rocks immediately in front of the dock.
There were numerous fallen trees along the shoreline which made any entry impossible.
Our family ended our trip very early without a refund.

Owner response:
Im very sorry you were disapppinted with your stay. We love our peaceful cottage and have strived to keep the interior cozy like a cabin in the woods should feel when getting away from the hustle and bustle of busy city life. As for the waterfront, our cottage is one of only 3 on a completely private lake, so i would have to disagree with your idea of waterfront as it is very much a waterfront cottage. I will agree that the current dock is in need of some repair, but being that we have only owned the cottage for under a year it is on a list of projects we plan on upgrading in the very near future. We also chose to keep the remaining shoreline as natural as possible as we arent the only inhabitants of the lake, the logs and rocks provide homes to an array of fish and wildlife, which is something we very much enjoy and look forward to watching while we are there. The beach area is sandy and while it is small provides access to play in and enter the water. Again, I would like to applogize for your dissatisfaction and early departure, but for us this cottage is our little piece of heaven, and our private retreat away from an otherwise busy and hectic life.

Our family spent a week at this beautiful cottage on peaceful Barry lake this August. Our kids had a great time catching frogs, minnows, and crawfish throughout the day. We also enjoyed going around the lake in the provided canoe, or just floating in the lake in our inflatables. Our evenings were spent around the firepit roasting marshmallows and counting shooting stars.
The owner was always quick to answer any questions or concerns, we highly recommend this cottage for a family getaway from busy life in the city.

This cottage was a lovely escape from the city. Yes, some things aren't perfrct, and I'll get to that, but it was quiet and relaxing for our adult vacation.
The water is lovely once you are in it, but is a bit tricky to navigate, something i believe the owners are planning to renovate. The beds are harder than I like, but after a day on the water, we still slept hard!
With some changes to the waters edge, we would come back to this cottage year after year.

It was a pleasure to stay at Tyler's cottage. I loved the private lake away from the neighbours. The best part is that there were only two other properties around this lake so the setting is quiet and extremely private. Exactly what we wanted.

The cottage is spacious (we think the main room makes for a fantastic dance floor) and the rooms are cozy. The kitchen is well equipted and there is now a brand new BBQ to cook with. We appreciated the screened porched and its table where we had all of our meals safe from hungry bugs.

I welcomed every morning sitting at the dock reading or writing to greet the rising sun. The chorus of singing birds, frogs and chipmunks saying "Hello!" were amazing! A turtle even showed up once although it was rather shy!

We enjoyed plenty of swimming and some canoeing. We even found a little treasure by the shore, a cup reminding us of the true meaning of PEACE that perfectly fits the atmosphere of the place: a little piece of paradise!

One night, while stargazing, we saw over a dozen shooting stars! What a beautiful world!

My family spent a great weekend at this cottage. It's quite, clean and comfortable, and looks over a private lake. The screen room is particularly useful during the night family gathering without using any bug repellant. A few 50-60' evergreen and birch trees overshadow the cottage and make it private from outside. Its private gate gives my family a peace of mind during staying. The nearby town is Calabogie (gas station, LCBO and grocery stores) about 15 mins drive. Manitou Mountain trails with beautiful valley views is about 25 mins. The price is excellent for the location and facility. Tyler (the owner) is definitely a trustworthy gentlemen and have done excellent jobs providing the instructions and immediate response to your inquiry. We enjoyed it very much and consider to come back again.
