What a wonderful place to stay. The owners were welcoming and kind, the cottage beautiful, warm, spacious and equipped with everything one could need. The cottage is tucked away in a woodland setting and therefore perfect for a peaceful getaway. We hope to return in two years when we next visit Nova Scotia!

Owner response:
Sally it is so nice of you to give us this review. We're glad to know you enjoyed what our property has to offer in late October. Would love to see you again. All the best.

You will fall in love with Cape Breton Island through your experience in the guest house of Marion and John. For starters, they are both the perfect hosts. Welcoming you onto their property to enjoy their gardens, hummingbirds, hiking trails, and short walk to the water, you also have total privacy to enjoy the most comfortable bed on the island, slippers, gorgeous art work, hand picked books, and games in the cabinets. I was travelling with my children, and there was more than enough room for the 5 of us, utilizing the futon couch on the main level. This guest house is well located to enjoy the entire island. You must go and experience for yourself. If you are lucky you will meet some of the other islanders that make up this close knit community. Thank you Marion and John, and all of your friends that made our stay unforgettable.

Lorie how lovely to hear from you. You were all people we will remember and we wish you all the best. Come see us again whenever you can.

We had a fantastic stay at this cottage on the Cape Breton Trail. It is very convenient to all parts of Cape Breton. The cottage was tranquil and clean. Marion and John gave us lots of useful information about places to visit. A lovely place to stay.

Owner response:
Thanks you two. It was great to meet you. You were wonderful guests.
Wishing you all the best in your future travels.

The Fieldstone Garden Guest House exceeded our expectations in every way. The cottage was clean, cozy and welcoming upon our arrival. Marion greeted us right away, showed us around the house and gave us very helpful information regarding local hikes, cafes etc (all of the suggestions ended up being our favourites!)

The bed was comfortable, nice linens and bedding with personal touches throughout the cottage that made it feel like a home away from home. We enjoyed tea on the screened in deck, as well as watching the hummingbirds outside the kitchen table window!

The location is perfect for driving the Cabot Trail and exploring everything Cape Breton has to offer. We completed many hikes in the Cape Breton Highlands Provincial Park, as well as some local favorites suggested by Marion. Marion found out for us when a local Ceilidh was playing so we could attend (and it was lovely!) And the best meal we had on our two week trip to the Maritimes was at a cafe close by that Marion had suggested to us.

The most special part of our visit were the hosts themselves. We sparked an immediate friendship and it was hard to say goodbye when it was time to fly home. My husband and I fell in love with their sweet dog and even got to hike her in the beautiful trails that are connected to John and Marion's property.

I HIGHLY recommend The Fieldstone Guesthouse and we hope to return again!!

Thank you for your kind words and thank you for letting us know you enjoyed the hikes, cafes and ceilidhs. We love our community and it's so nice to share it with others who enjoy the quiet and beauty that is part of it.

This guest house exceeded our expectations. We found it private, spacious, spotlessly clean and bright. It is a welcoming, well stocked space. The kitchen is very well-equipped with a good size fridge and stove. The book collection is a nice treat with a variety of options and local content. The large upper level open concept bedroom is very comfortable with a sitting area and large windows to enjoy the view of the garden and forest.

There are hiking trails behind the house that are worth exploring. The views for the top are well worth the hike up.

The hosts are friendly and helpful. It is clear that your comfort is important to them. We felt very welcome. This made the stay even better.

This is a great, relaxing place to stay. We wanted for nothing. We have stayed here twice now ( both times in the winter) and will definitely come back to enjoy the other seasons.
