| We wanted a quiet place away from all distractions and that's what Matt's place offers. An early snowstorm prevented biking, but we enjoyed the peace and quiet, the visits by the deer, the crashing waves, reading by the wood stove and general relaxation. This place has everything you need for a real escape. We hope to return in the summer.

| Return visit to Matt's place for 1st time since 2019. Charming, comfortable, secluded with amazing, ever-changing views of Lake Ontario. Bird and (Monarch) butterfly displays were nonstop, and night sky was a true treat.
Simcoe Island is reached by a 2ish-car ferry, which, in turn, is reached by a ferry to Wolfe Island from the wonderful city of Kingston. You can chill here, bike ride on the 4 mile dirt road that cuts across the island, gawk at nightly sunset displays, and pick from assorted places on the property to catch views of the lake as it goes from calm to raging to calm again.
In short, as many reviews of sublime vacation spots note, there is a conflict between raving about such a cool spot and trying to keep it under the radar. So, move on; this place is terrible.

| Five months into the pandemic, we were looking for utter privacy, and that's exactly what we found here. The cottage is charming and comfortable, and most of its guests' needs have been anticipated. The hosts are instantly responsive if called upon, but are otherwise invisible. The lake is the main feature, for swimming in or kayaking upon, or just sitting by with a book. There is one road end to end on Simcoe Island, which is primarily farmland. We enjoyed walking and biking to the lighthouse, but would have headed off to Wolfe Island if we'd wanted to do more exploring on foot. The wifi is a little temperamental, but not bad considering the location. For a week of complete downtime, this was a great choice. (P.S. the hosts suggested that we bring water shoes, as the rocks underfoot in the lake can be slippery--good advice!)

| A true slice of heaven!! Matt and Shelli were wonderful hosts - they were quick to respond to questions before we rented and greeted us at the cottage when we arrived. The cottage is well set up and has lots of amenities to enjoy - firepit, kayaks, paddle board, bikes, ping ping table, ladder golf to name a few. Simcoe Island is a relaxing, quiet place to spend your holiday time yet close enough to Kingston and Wolfe Island that it is easy to go explore if you want. You can be as active or quiet as you want.
