Welcome to The Wilson Family Cottage on Lower Buckhorn Lake in the beautiful Kawarthas! This traditional family cottage lives like a resort compound with multiple unique and individual indoor and outdoor living areas. Enjoy the natural landscape of pine trees and exposed Canadian shield as you relax with family and friends.
The cottage is situated on Lower Buckhorn Lake at the mouth of the Deer Bay river. The gentle flow of the river provides for great fishing right off the dock! Explore the Trent Severn Waterway and the Kawartha Lakes with access to hundreds of kilometres of pristine boating, world-class fishing, and epic canoe and kayaking.
The cottage has parking for six - driveway, roadside, and overflow across the road. It's hidden from the road and is accessed via a staircase over a large section of the exposed Canadian shield. It boasts a two-bedroom main cottage with two bunkies.
The main cottage has a beautifully renovated modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances, including a microwave and full dishwasher. The living room/dining room has indoor dining and a stocked digital entertainment system with hundreds of movies and TV shows, a 46" flat-screen TV, speakers with a record player and an audio/headphone connection - Bring your own vinyl!
Both bedrooms have queen beds and large closets. The bathroom has a spacious stand-up shower. The cottage has lake-fed UV-treated drinkable water and is on a septic system. The system works wonderfully, but as with any cottage water system, it is fragile and must be treated with respect.
Arguably, one of the highlights of the property is the Great Kawartha Room - a 310-square-foot screened room with a cathedral ceiling that is attached to the main cottage. The Great Room provides an incredible vista of the surrounding property and gives the illusion of being high up in a tree fort. It can provide shelter from the extreme elements while allowing in the subtle ones. Depending on the time of day, it provides a shady oasis or a sun-soaked evening dining space. The massive ten-seat harvest table was handmade by our family, and like many great tables, it is the premier meeting place for quality time together.
The upper bunkie is perfect for kids and teenagers as it has two single beds, a DVD player, PS3 and Nintendo 64. The lower bunkie is romantically situated on the dock and is equipped with a double bed and windows that overlook the water. Both bunkies have hydro and space heaters.
Relax dockside and soak in the sun! Enjoy fresh, deep water swimming & fishing. Dock your own canoes, kayaks or small watercraft.
Enjoy the upper deck and patio set that overlooks the water and have an evening campfire in the built-in pit!
Explore the local area and discover some of the most beautiful parts of Ontario. Hiking, biking, caves, golf, tourist attractions, antiques and galleries dominate the Kawartha region! Everything is truly at your fingertips for an amazing vacation!

| We had a wonderful stay at the Wilson family cottage. As others have said, the great Kawartha room is a huge bonus. Not only does it give you a place to hang out if the weather isn't wonderful, it's set up in such a way that everyone can do their own thing without feeling like you are on top of each other. It's a super comfortable space where you can enjoy the breeze and a board game or a good book. The table is perfect for a family dinners. The cottage itself is clean and bright. The skylights make a huge difference in my opinion, we have rented other cottages that feel very dark. The shade trees around the cottage keep it cool inside. The ceiling fans in every room are a bonus as well. If you like to kayak, you can't go wrong here. We brought our three kayaks and there was plenty of room to moor them to the dock. We had a wonderful time, exploring the lake and channels.In terms of location, it's really nice to be close to so many places to explore like Bobcaygeon, Fenelon Falls, and Buckhorn. There is a lot to do close by, and a lot of amazing day trip opportunities to parks, craft breweries and bike excursions.The bunkies are just awesome! One night got a little cool during our stay, and the space heater made it perfectly cozy.The cottage comes equipped with everything you need, including comfortable beds. Josh is just amazing to deal with and provides exceptional communication throughout. We would definitely return. Thank you Josh!

| We had a wonderful stay at the Wilson cottage! The kids were busy everyday kayaking, fishing and swimming! Although there are lots of stairs, we didn't find this got in the way of having the best time. The Great Kawartha Room was an amazing way to spend family time together when the weather wasn't great, while still enjoying the outdoors. Many board games were played at the beautiful long wood table. Thanks Josh for allowing us to rent and make many family memories!!

| Our recent stay at the Wilson Family Cottage did not disappoint! What an amazing and relaxing property. The cottage was so well equipped with everything we needed. The great room was awesome and an amazing space to gather for food and family fun.
Fishing right off the dock kept the kids busy and our pup loved jumping off the dock into the lake for hours on end. Josh was an excellent host and responded to all our needs so quickly and efficiently. A truly great vacation experience!

| What an incredibly peaceful week it was! The majority of our days were leisurely spent down by the dock, while our evenings were filled with playing games in the screened room. The bunkies proved to be a fantastic retreat for the kids, equipped with tons of movies and Mario Kart for their enjoyment. When we were up for a brief day adventure, we made the most of Sandy Beach, just a 15-minute drive away. A beautiful property with many areas to enjoy. LOVED THE KAYAKS! And the owner Josh was a FANTASTIC host! Quick replies and very friendly! Loved that we could bring our dogs as well made the week extra enjoyable . We will 100000 percent be renting again.

| Josh was a wonderful, responsive and friendly host. We had left a couple of items behind and Josh graciously reached out to let me know and mailed them to me. The cottage has everything you need, lovely dock on the water, plenty of space to hang outside and lots of sleeping space! We loved our time on lovesick lake, the launch is very close to the cottage I'd you have a boat. My family and I can't wait to stay again next summer! Would highly recommend for a family get away.
