This very private waterfront log cottage surrounded by over an acre of enchanting gardens and property. The cottage is bright & airy and has a nice mix of rustic features and modern comforts & finishes including flat screen smart tv, cable TV, wifi, and Nespresso coffee machine! We are on an island but close to the shore with easy access so you get the best of both worlds with privacy but easy access. Note - you do not need a boat to access this property! The cottage gets booked up very quickly all summer and we have many repeat guests that tell us the pictures do not do the cottage/ property justice, that the cottage is better than advertised.
It has cathedral ceilings, sun porch, large wrap around deck and pine floors on main level. Over 500 feet of private shoreline has both shallow walk into water areas and deeper water at the end of the dock for diving. Main Dock (new oversized dock/platform installed summer 2017) and front deck/porch have Western exposure for beautiful sunsets, and back porch and deck off sun room, stone fire pit and level gardens have eastern exposure to view the sunrise in the morning.
Crystal Lake is elevated over the Trent Lakes, is land locked, spring feed, and therefore water is sparkling clear and clean. Water level drops during summer to feed the Trent waterway system creating more beach area.

Extensive landscaping, really one of a kind. Main level cottage contains Kitchen, Living Room (with walk out to large front deck) , Dining Room, 2-pc Bath, 1-bedroom (queen bed) and sun room/porch (with walk out to back deck and the quiet back yard area) . Loft contains 3pc bath (newly renovated in 2019) 1- bedroom (double bed and triple bunk). Sunroom has a small pull out. Quilts, duvets and pillows are provided. Bed linens, bath towels and beach towels can be provided for an additional charge and beds will be made up for your arrival.
We allow a strict maximum of 6 guests.
55inch smart LED flat screen and bluetooth sound bar in main living area, TV in sunroom (great area for the kids to lounge about in), and plenty of great DVDs and videos for rainy days. We also have Netflix and other movie and tv apps for anyone who want to pay for the WIFI
The island is less than 100 feet from the mainland sitting in a very quiet bay, and our private barge / floating platform is hooked by a wire line between the mainland and one of our smaller docks - which gets you across to the other side in less than 2 minutes - will be provided to renters for access during May-Aug as the water level can sometimes be knee to waist deep making it fairly difficult for everyday cars to drive across to the island over those few months. However from mid August onwards you can drive directly onto island and park right outside the cottage. Yes, this is an island with only 2 cottages on it - both private, located on separate halves of the island.
The barge / floating platform belongs to the property and can be used at any time (kids love playing with it)

There is a public launch only 5 mins from the cottage if you wish to bring your own motorized boat / jet skis etc and dock them at the cottage.

| This our third summer cottaging and our first summer at this cottage. This was our favorite so far!!
The cottage was very clean and spacious. We are a family of five and a medium sized dog and had plenty of room. The property is very large with plenty of safe places for the kids (and the dog) to explore. There are beautiful planted flowers all over. It's clear that this is a loved family cottage. The view from the cottage is breathtaking. You feel like you are in a treehouse on the deck. It's incredible. The water really was crystal clear. Really cool nearby towns to visit and explore like Bobcaygeon and Fenelon falls.
Pros: clean kitchen and bathrooms; big fridge and dining table; huge deck overlooking property and lake; oversized dock is great for parking boat and fishing; lots of games and dvds; linens and cleaning service (); private and quiet; good fishing; friendly marina staff with gas station; great boating for tubing
Cons: no on site laundry but laundromats nearby are plenty and quick to use, stove could be better, not much beach area but water is shallow for playtime.
The cons were hard to find and should not deter one from visiting. We will return for sure.

| This is our third time renting this beautiful cottage. There is something quite magical about this place. Besides the cottage being immaculate and cozy, the water is crystal clear and perfect for any activity. This is our go to place for our summer retreats, and the surrounding towns are quaint and peaceful.

| We had an excellent stay at this cottage. Kids (8 and 11) and dog had a wonderful time exploring the island, jumping off the new dock, and having fires by the lake. The water level was pretty high this year so the beach areas weren't visible. Getting across to the island on the barge was easy and the kids loved the adventure. The cottage itself was spotless and a great mix of rustic and modern conveniences. The lake was very clear and great for swimming. Beautiful sunsets were enjoyed from the deck off the cottage and the BBQ was put to good use. Bugs were bad but nothing you could do about that. The cottage is perfectly located 30 minutes from both Bobcaygeon and Minden which have everything you need - great ice cream at Kawartha Dairy! Kinmount is closer (15 minutes) and has the basics - groceries and lcbo! The owner was good to deal with and responsive when we had a little issue getting access to the dump. Will look to return for years to come.

| Great private spot with a lovely, private waterline. Cottage was large on the main floor, very open and cozy. The dining table was large, great for family meals and the interior is nicely decorated. It was clean and exceeded our expectations! Would recommend!

| We (family of 3) stayed here week after Labour Day 2016 and had a great time. You get half an island with this property and that means lots of shoreline. Great place for small children to wade into the water, shoreline is nice and sandy most places, not muddy and not too many rocks either. Crystal Lake is a beautiful lake for swimming or boating or whatever you want to do. Cottage amenities were great too - as long as you remember its a cottage, not a house! e.g. You'll need to bring drinking water etc as the house just gets its cold water straight from the lake (lake water ok for cooking tho). This is a great cottage for a family with young children to stay and just relax and enjoy for a week or weekend, whatever. Not a lot of deep water for diving etc, especially later in summer may be a drawback for some.
