WELCOME TO BAKER'S LANDING!
Baker's Landing is set in the Almaguin Highlands right on the shore of beautiful Lake Cecebe. This beautiful 2-storey, 3 bedroom home is a very comfortable and relaxing home-away-from-home. Enjoy the 40+ miles of boating pleasure on scenic Lake Cecebe and through the Magnetawan River system; boat through the historic lock system at Magnetawan to the beauty of Ahmic Lake (late June through Labour Day); enjoy great fishing, swimming, hiking, bird watching, picnics or just relax to the call of the loons. Golfing, horseback riding, shopping and excellent dining are nearby or just enjoy marshmallows at the newly upgraded fire pit. We are 40 minutes to Huntsville and an hour to North Bay or Parry Sound. Less than 3 hours from Toronto.
Set on 2+ acres with 600' of private water frontage, this home includes a master bedroom with en-suite, and sliding doors from the large cathedral ceiling living room to the expansive wrap-around deck. The kitchen and dining room also overlook the lake and the property boasts a drilled well, south east exposure, 40' dock, air conditioning and sleeps a maximum of 8 people. A 40" HD TV (satellite connection) and DVD player are also included and are part of the full surround system.
The rental period is Saturday to Saturday. Check-in is 2:30pm and check-out is 10:30am. A minimum 4 night stay is offered after September 11th until we close later in the month.
Potential guests will be asked to fill out and return a Rental Application form, similar to those required by most cottage rental firms. Information on the form will be kept private and confidential.
This property is ideal for a couple, family or extended family and very suitable for active seniors. The house is very comfortable with 6 quests and a bit crowded with 8. Because of the 2 levels, the house does not lend itself to anyone with mobility issues nor is it suitable for groups looking to party.
A 16' fiberglass canoe and two 12' kayaks are loaned to you on your vacation. Boats and/or motors can be rented on the lake and there are several boat launches if you are bringing your own boat.
As with most cottage rentals, guests are expected to bring their own sheets, pillow cases and towels. We do offer a "linen" package - Sheets and house towels are available for $70 for 1 to 4 guests and $110 for 5 to 8 guests, if reserved ahead. Beach towels are not included.
WIFI/INTERNET is now AVAILABLE! After many years of very poor rural coverage, we can finally offer internet coverage. Although it is not inexpensive, Starlink is now in our area, and we are connected. While the Starlink coverage is "unlimited" we ask that you use it normally and not to excess. If abused, the speed will become slow and none of us want to experience this. There is enough connectivity for basic business usage such as emails and web apps, but not enough for streaming movies and gaming.
A landline is not provided at Baker's Landing but in the case of a power failure, there is adequate cell phone coverage for both Bell and Rogers and partner carriers. The automatic Generac generator will keep the WiFi operational at all times along with the TV, microwave and other items in the house.
Fishing is excellent and you can catch small mouth bass, walleye/pickerel, northern pike and yellow perch. In the past many years Lake Cecebe has been stocked annually with pickerel fry, by the Almaguin Fishing and Improvement Association.
A well behaved 100% house trained friendly dog that is good with strangers is allowed if the owners agree to "poop and scoop". The dog must be on a leash and cannot be left alone in the house or tied outside to bark at any time. There is a 2 dog maximum limit. Unfortunately cats are not allowed.
Baker's Landing is a 100% NON SMOKING home, both INSIDE AND OUT
Waterfront - the shoreline is rocky. The 40' dock has a swimming ladder at the end. Swimming off the dock is good. The depth at the end of the dock is approximately 5-6'. Lots of room for boat parking.
Heating - the furnace and air conditioning operate via a heat pump from our well. s mentioned above, an automated propane back-up generator is beside the house in case of hydro outages.
Guests are allowed as long as they are not exceeding the 8 guest limit. For day guests, please inquire.
Both the upper and lower deck and the dock are ideal for sitting in the sun, watching the world go by, a morning cup of coffee or an evening drink. The expansive upper lawn is excellent for badminton, croquet, tetherball (all provided) or other sports. The dock ladder allows easy access to the lake for swimming.
We hope you like our site, and look forward to talking with you. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
Come and listen to the loons, relax and enjoy all that the lake and the area have to offer!
Jeff and Kathy

There is a second fridge and a second shower in the basement, along with the washer and dryer. The nearest hospital is in Huntsville which is a 45 minute drive. Swimming is great off the dock, but the water gets deep quickly. A well mannered friendly leashed dog is welcome and we support the "poop and scoop" program. Excessive barking is not permitted. The fire pit and firewood are right beside the lake. There is an automatic "Generac" generator in case of a power failure. + VIEW MORE - COLLAPSE Other Town/Lake/Area: | Magnetawan, Burks Falls, Huntsville, Ahmic Lake |
Note: Located right on the water - good swimming, fishing, boating, etc. By car it is only 20 minutes to either Magnetawan & Burks Falls. By boat, it is 8 miles down to Magnetawan and 14 miles up to Burks Falls. | Our family rented Baker's Landing for the last week of June 2022. First impressions exceeded all of our expectations! The property is very well kept with an amazing view of Lake Cecebe. We were met by owners Kathy and Jeff who gave us a quick tour of the property and house, pointing out everything we needed to know for our stay. The cottage is spacious and the six of us could eat meals at the same table inside or outside on a large veranda overlooking the lake. We could also sit together comfortably in the living room. The bedrooms were specious and comfortable, with the three bathrooms making life easy. The cottage and and property were very clean and everything worked. The central air was a huge bonus! Wifi worked great as well. Lake Cecebe is clean and we swam off the dock (there's a ladder to get out) and fished off the dock. We also rented a small boat with motor from a place across the lake for fishing. We caught rock bass, small mouth bass, pickerel, perch, lots of pumpkinseed (sunfish) and a catfish. Fishing was great off the dock and off the boat. Kathy and Jeff were great hosts. They even made sure we were aware of the Canada Day fireworks in Magnetawan, which we went to and were great! We are very seriously considering trying to go back next summer. This place ticked all of our boxes and we wanted for nothing!

| We stayed at beautiful Baker's Landing during September 2020 and found it to be a wonderful retreat from the city. The fall colours came on during our two week stay and it was great to be able to track their progress with the spectacular view over the lake. Kathy and Jeff were great hosts and the accommodation was everything we could ask for -- well equipped, spacious and perfectly suited to our needs. It was an easy decision to arrange to come at the same time next year.

| This is the third consecutive year that we are staying at Baker's Landing. Our family loves the location on the water, the large lawn to play on , and the privacy of the large secluded lot. The house has all of the amenities that we need and is very comfortable. There are lots of places to go on rainy days, including Huntsville which is a short drive away. It is a slightly longer drive to Burks Falls from Toronto, than to the heart of Muskoka, but well worth it for us. Jeff and Kathy are wonderful hosts and very accomodating. We would highly recommend Baker's Landing for a relaxing week.

| This property is exactly as advertised. Booked for a week in 2016 and on leaving booked two weeks for 2017 and repeated for 2018. Owners are warm and welcoming, well organized and on the spot if even minor issues arise. The treed lot to one side of the large grounds and a small bay on the other make you feel you have the lake to yourself. Lovely dining on the upper deck and not a lot of heavy boat traffic. Swimming, boating and fishing off the sturdy dock are great for the kids or adults. This is a well equipped, clean, quiet, very roomy and comfortable lake property at a very reasonable cost.
