From the multiple seating areas on the deck and screened sun room to the beautifully presented bedrooms and well-equipped kitchen, this cottage delivers excellence on every level. And in fact, there are 3 levels of excellence before you even get to the exterior.
Entrance to the cottage is into the light and bright, open plan kitchen, living and dining area with wall-to-wall windows facing the lake. The kitchen has a large island unit perfect for preparing family meals while the double fridge and freezer will amply cope with all your food and drink.
The good-sized dining table will be the focus of family meals if you prefer not to eat in any of the outside locations?and it doubles as a great table for a round of euchre or a board game in the evening. For lounging, enjoy the comfortable couches in the living area or choose the Muskoka room for a morning coffee or aperitif.
The lower level is where you'll find the large TV with satellite; Xbox for gaming, and cosy couches for curling up with a book. A pullout offers additional sleeping space, and the walkout to the lawned area is convenient for accessing the hot tub.
We loved the soaring ceilings and the open landing on the upper level that leads to the three well-furnished bedrooms - two of them with kings, and one with twin beds and all with TVs. There are full bathrooms on the main and top level.
Just outside the main entrance there's a couple of steps down to the self-contained games room with pool, foosball and air hockey. Enough to keep everyone happy on a rainy or cold day.
There are three separate seating areas on the deck - more than enough for everyone in the group to enjoy the outside and the beautiful lake views.
The terrain is fairly level and grassed to the shoreline where you'll find the dock with Muskoka chairs. The shoreline is a little weedy and soft underfoot but deeper and clear off the dock where the swimming is great. Basshaunt is a no-motor lake so take the kayaks out into the main part of the lake and enjoy the peace and tranquility.
Winter in Paradise
Within minutes of Sir Sam's ski hill, this cottage is the perfect location for a winter break. Bring the family for a weekend, or take a full week break for skiing, cross country and snow-shoeing. The fireplaces and hot tub will guarantee you cosy warmth at the end of a busy day on the slopes!
