| This beautiful cottage is an absolute oasis of calm. It's completely surrounded by mixed pine forest and so, so quiet. I woke up early a couple mornings to hear loon calls echoing through the trees. If you want to step away from the city to unwind, this cottage is perfect.
As soon as you step inside you're hit with the subtle scent of wood - heaven! We were impressed with how clean and tidy everything was on arrival, and loved all the little 'cottagey' decor touches. Everything was in good repair, and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything you'd ever need.
The weather was a little crazy while we were there, so we enjoyed both the 2nd floor AC while sleeping, as well as the propane fireplace in the living room.
EKK's Cottage also wins the award for, "most DVDs I've ever personally seen in 1 place". There are literally cupboards and drawers full of movies!
The burn ban was lifted at the end of our stay, so we got to enjoy a bonfire. The 'fire ring' is a massive horseshoe of granite and quartzite boulders (so cool!), and there was plenty of dry firewood.
Last but not least, there's a 'cottage survival guide' binder on the coffee table that has absolutely everything you need to know about the cottage and surrounding area...down to restaurant suggestions. So thoughtful and appreciated!
We had such a great time and wouldn't hesitate to come back!

| We were expecting a standard cottage and were pleasantly greeted by a quaint, rustic fully equipped little piece of joy in the woods. Our hosts go above and beyond our expectations. Providing a clean, comfortable and well setup place to stay. We have stayed at 5 star resorts that pale in comparison, Tons of games and dvds for evening enjoyment when the sun goes down. Even with a burn ban in place we were still able to kick back, relax and enjoy a cottage weekend. We all left feeling relaxed, and rejuvinated. Lots of laughs, good times and smiles had by all. We will definitely be return visitors. Thank you Kim and Shaune.

| The location of the cottage is beautiful, and the cottage itself is cute and nicely decorated. However, there is a very strong moldy smell, so you'll need to keep the windows open.
The air conditioner is located on the second floor and is extremely loud—making it difficult to sleep in that room at night. There is no AC on the first floor, only a fan.
The kitchen is stocked with old pans and utensils. Also, no pillows, blankets, or towels are provided. That was my oversight, as I didn't read the contract carefully—so make sure you do.
Be aware that the stairs are very steep, which could be a hazard for children or older adults. Additionally, the hot water has a strong odor every time you shower.

Réponse proprio: As previously stated, we are sorry that you did not enjoy your experience. The cottage is an old cedar cottage that is located on a large lot in a forest with a lot of shade. We are really not too sure what you mean in regards to a moldy smell as this also has never been complained about before now. We have cleaners there on a regular basis & no one has ever mentioned a moldy smell. We bend over backwards to accommodate our guests & as such have numerous wonderful reviews to back up our guest experience & we stand behind that. You are honestly the 1st guest to ever complain in regards to the AC unit & it has never been an issue since renting from 2018. Most are happy that it is there to cool them down. You are correct, there is only a fan on the main floor, as that is all that is necessary & never been complained before now either. The kitchen is fully stocked as mentioned in you rental agreement & some of the utensils may be retro but they are in perfect condition, & we as well as most of our cottage guests enjoy all the kitchen amenities just fine as everything is as stated in our rental agreement. Clearly it was not what you were looking for. It sounds as though you wanted a modern & updated or newer cottage to rent. Ours is a classic, traditional, retro cottage vibe, which has been loved by many & we intend to keep it that way moving forward. This was clearly not a good or proper fit for either party. We wish you well on all your future cottage experiences & take care. | |

| Wow, what a hidden gem we found! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful cottage. We found everything we needed and more! Cottage is cozy, welcoming and perfect for relaxing either with books, games or unbelievable variety of movies. We spent most of our time outside as we planned to ski and snowshoe. Weather was snowy and sunny, total winter wonderland. Cottage is very suitable for dogs, and we have a giant one ;). Communication with Kim was excellent! Amazing experience and can not wait to come back! Thank you!!!

| My girlfriend and I enjoyed our 3 night stay at the cottage. Our quiet and peaceful trip started the minute we pulled in as you hear nothing but leaves falling and animal sounds. The cottage comes with everything you need minus linens and pillows. Kim provides a informational booklet that outlines what the cottage and surrounding area offers which I found very useful. Haliburton is a nice small town. We utilized walking the trails and visiting the sculpture forest. I recommend visitors walk the 20 minutes to the beach area. You will not be disappointed! My only complaint is that I should have stayed a couple more nights.
