Le Sandy Cove, ce beau chalet riverain, à aire ouverte et de 3 chambres à coucher situé directement sur le rivage. Le chalet entièrement équipé peut accueillir 6 adultes confortablement et est l'escapade idéale pour 3 couples ou une famille entière. Le chalet est situé directement sur ce lac très couru , le Lac Gauvreau et est littéralement à quelques minutes du village de Wakefield et à 30 minutes du centre-ville Marché By d'Ottawa. Le chalet dispose de vues spectaculaires, un bord de l'eau privé et est incroyablement lumineux et ensoleillé . Le salon principal a de grandes baies vitrées sur la façade donnant sur le lac de ce chalet exposé plein sud. La plage de sable très privée avec une descente en pente douce dans l'eau est idéale pour les familles avec de jeunes enfants . Nouveauté cette saison , tous les matelas ont été remplacés pour une expérience de vacances très propre et confortable. La chambre principale a un matelas queen de qualité haut de gamme et la 2ème chambre d'hôtes dispose d'un matelas double de luxe. La troisième chambre a un ensemble de lits superposés, aussi nouveau cette saison . Note : Niché au coeur des collines de la Gatineau et de la région du parc national. Le chalet en bord de l'eau se trouve sur le lac Gauvreau dans la communauté de La Pêche connu pour le village de Wakefield, une communauté artistique. Wakefield se vante de festivals, salles de concert, les marchés de légumes frais et des restaurants incroyables avec terrasse de bord de l'eau. | We recently completed a stay at Sandy Cove cottage. We were disappointed with many aspects of the cottage and cut our stay short by one night. The following are the major areas of concern.
Firstly, while it is by no means the fault of the owners, the lake is an ecological disaster. It is sadly overrun with milfoil, an invasive plant that leads to weediness. Swimming from the shore required swimming through several meters of dense weeds, which was unappealing to say the least. We wound up swimming at a nearby lake instead, Boating on the lake is also severely restricted due to the milfoil.
The cottage itself is sadly neglected. The kitchen appliances are very old. The fridge door shelf is literally held together by tape. The dishwasher does not drain properly. We did not even attempt to use the oven .Most furnishings are old and uncomfortable. If you are looking for a warm and cottagey feel, you will be disappointed. On one occasion it was necessary to contact the owner as the water in the shower had a bad aroma. To their credit, the owner attended immediately to fix the problem.
The outside deck is very nice and the barbecue worked well, thankfully. However the stairs leading to the water and the swimming raft are rotting. Our 2 year old grandchild was using the stairs to go to the water area when a post supporting the railing came off in his hand. It could have led to a disaster.

| Amazing cottage! Had everything we needed, beautiful view of the lake. We rented the cottage in February and it was super fun. Outdoor skating through the forest was 20mins away, ski hills close by and walking trails through Gatineau Park. Cottage was very cozy with wood stove and hot tub. We will be back and would recommend this place to anyone.

| My family with 2 young children enjoyed our week are sandy cove so much we are already planning our return for next year.
The cottage itself is well equipped. It has everything you'll need. We didn't need to pack as much as we did. Comfortable bedding, towels, all kitchen items, wifi and Netflix. The kids room even had toys and tons of books. There is a huge screened in porch that is almost soundproof from the rest of the cottage so we could stay up and laugh all night without disturbing the kids (and likewise in the morning they could play out there without disturbing us!).
The outdoors is really where it's at though. The lake is perfect. Warm and calm with a beach for the kids to dig in and collect rocks. We swam and fished and kayaked. We even found a small cave to explore and some marsh where we saw ducks, blue heron, turtles and gulls. There are very few people on the lake and even fewer motorized boats. It's as peaceful as they come.
The cottage has a nice fire pit overlooking the lake, a floating dock and a huge patio with a BBQ. There is even a fold out table and chairs that we used when guests came for dinner and we played famed on it in the sunroom.
Also there's a store 5 minutes away that has everything you could possibly need. Fresh fruit and veggies, meat and dairy, wine and beer, ice, fishing tackle... so convenient.

| Another great week at Sandy Cove cottage. Pretty cottage, well located. Only half an hour to Ottawa's Byward Market. Kelly is on top on things, responding quickly to any request. Can sleep six comfortably. Appreciated the two kayaks and canoe, allowed us to explore this beautiful lake. Hopefully we will be able to return next summer.
