| We returned to this cottage because of a wonderful stay in 2019. Sadly, our recent experience was the complete opposite — marked by poor maintenance, misleading information, and a lack of accountability from the owner.
From arrival, the property was unprepared. Dogs roamed freely on-site (never disclosed), garbage instructions led to a closed landfill, and kayaks advertised as amenities had no paddles unless we “asked.” Outdoor seating for a six-person cottage consisted of only two usable chairs, with others filthy or broken. Lights by the lake didn't work, garbage floated in the water, Wi-Fi was unreliable, and several items — including kitchen chairs and a mattress with exposed springs — were unsafe. We even found garbage under the bed and had to clean dirty dishes and floors ourselves.
What made this worse was the host's response. Every valid concern was minimized or deflected. Being told to “just ask” for basic amenities or to “push broken chairs back together” is unacceptable. A simple apology or acknowledgment of responsibility would have gone a long way, but none was offered.
This property is no longer maintained to the standard it once had. Between the poor preparation, safety issues, and dismissive communication, our stay was deeply disappointing. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this cottage.

| The view was beautiful. It would have been nice to know that the owners would be right next door with their dogs for the entire week prior to booking. We brought our dogs and one of them isn't so friendly and theirs just roam around.

| We had a fantastic week at Hart Cottage !!!
This cottage has everything for a flawless vacation. Very spacious open concept living-Dining-Kitchen area with beautiful views of Big Hawk Lake. The 3 bedrooms are also spacious and quite comfortable for a good nights rest. Most of the days were spent on the extra large floating dock, soaking in the sun & tranquility as well as playing with the water toys. Most amenities are a short 25 minute drive in either Minden, Dorset or Haliburton.
Jackie & Stuart are wonderful, attentive hosts and we look forward to another week in 2023.

| An amazing experience staying there for two nights. Quiet and relaxing place. Nice and helpful owners were available anytime of the day. Although, this was the first family trip to cottage, everyone enjoyed it and hope to make a second one here as well.

| The Hart Cottage has a great layout, and is very comfortable and clean. The hosts are wonderful.
Our family spent two wonderful weeks swimming, having campfires, and hanging out together. We will definitely be returning next year.
