3-bedroom waterfront heritage Bobs Lake 1.5 hrs w of Ottawa

On arrival at Burgess Cottage, people often say "This is a real cottage." --A well-maintained wooden structure with stone fireplace built in the 1930's.

The cottage is on a water-level SW facing lot on Bobs Lake with a beautiful view and regular air current at bay's end so very few bugs (but no avoiding 8 pm mosquitoes). Level entry main floor has a galley type kitchen, two main floor bedrooms each w a double bed, and a narrow "children's" stairway to loft w four single beds. The one washroom has a shower, no tub. The bunkie has 3 bunks and a washroom w shower and extra kitchen sink and fridge which is helpful to store some extra groceries, especially drinks. Depending on ages, parents adopt downstairs beds, small children love the loft, and teens gravitate to the bunkie.

The property has its own concrete boat ramp, a dock for large boats and small, and set of concrete steps into the lake. A concrete wall lines the shore in front of the cottage with steps into the lake. In June, water depth at wall is about 2 ft, and this declines to dry sand by end Sept. Lake bottom is sandy and clear of weeds and excellent for wading, swimming, playing and boating. The lake is well known for its fishing. There is a swim raft. There is a shaded children's climber with swings and slide, and a tire swing.

The cottage is well cleaned, all linens supplied, kitchen well outfitted, bbq w fuel, high speed wifi/netflix, land line telephone, kayak, canoe, rowboat, life jackets, bikes and kites all available to use. There is an outdoor firepit and indoor fireplace. The building can be heated by a gas wood-stove styled furnace. Water (from well) is potable (drinkable) and tests excellently each summer. There are three outdoor tables and lots of chairs. Lots of books and games for a rainy day, or places to go ...from Kingston to Ottawa.
