*** Please note that we are relatively new to Cottages in Canada, but we've been on another popular short-term rental website for years, and can provide lots of great reviews! *** Please check us out on IG! @thewcottages ! If peace and relaxation are what you're looking for, you'll find them here! We've got 125 ft of waterfront in a quiet bay, and a wood-burning sauna at the water's edge. Our large deck has a cozy seating area for your morning coffee, and you can have a drink on the dock with the sunset and the loon calls. Vintage hardwood floors and a funky cottage vibe will help you sleep soundly, and your kids will love our rustic three-season bunkie (glamping!) that can sleep six. Our cozy cottage is a 1000 sq ft with three bedrooms and one bathroom; two of the bedrooms have Queen beds, and the third bedroom has single-over-double bunkbed. The bathroom has a bath/ shower combo and a toilet and a sink.
Our three-season rustic bunkie is also a great spot just a few steps from the cottage. It can sleep six, as it has a twin bed, a single-over-single bunk, and a single-over-double bunk, and there's also a great play-loft for the kids. It's not fancy, but it's a super cool spot- think glamping meets cabin-in-the-woods. This space is only useable during warm months, as there is no heat source in here but it makes for a pretty unique experience.
The living room has a three-seater pull-out couch (pulls out into a double bed), two armchairs, and a TV with a Roku box that will allow you to access your own Netflix or Disney+ accounts (keep in mind, this is cottage country internet, so streaming can be slow/patchy). We also have a DVD player and nearly 400 movies for you to choose from!
The kitchen has a dishwasher and stackable washer/dryer, and is fully stocked with all of the dishes and cooking utensils that you will need.
Our waterfront is stunning- we're in a quiet bay off the North side of Pigeon Lake, and we've got a beautiful new dock to swim or fish off and 125 ft of shoreline. There are weeds in the water, which make for great wildlife spotting, and we're surrounded by towering jack pines and birch trees. This is not the deep weed-free water of the Muskokas, this is the warm, shallow, weedy water of the Kawarthas, and we've got two canoes, two kayaks, and two paddleboards for you to explore it! We do have a boat and a jetski tied to our dock at the cottage in the Summer months, but they're both on the far side and you'll still have three sides of the dock to enjoy. Unfortunately, for insurance reasons, we are unable to rent the boat or the jetski to you!
Aaaaaand our newest addition is a wood-burning 4-person cedar sauna. This has become a huge hit amongst cottage guests, and we've put it right at the waterfront with an adorable little front porch. Simply light the fire in the back of the sauna and wait for it to warm up (can take as much as an hour or beyond on cold days); for some extra heat and steam, spoon some water onto the sauna rocks!
A few other things you should be aware of before booking: 1. You will need to bring ALL of your own linens- this includes sheets, pillowcases, bath towels, kitchen towels. Our cleaners simply don't have enough time in between renters to do all the laundry! 2. You will need to take all of your garbage and recycling with you when you leave, as the local dump is only accessible by residents. If you'd really like to avoid this, you might want to check out the landfill in Lindsay, Ontario, which is en route back to the GTA from our cottage. You can find their information and hours of operation via the City of Kawartha Lakes website. 3. A note about wi-fi: YES, we have wi-fi, and also yes, it can be cottage-country slow! Please don't plan on making any multiple-user Zoom calls or you will be disappointed. Instead, unplug and relax! 4. Depending on the time of year, our well water will give off a sulphur smell. It is still safe to drink, but if the smell bothers you then you should plan to bring bottled water please.
Pets are very welcome! We LOVE dogs, but please be a responsible dog owner and remember to pick up and dispose of their waste!
You will love it here! Check out our Insta @thewcottages to get more of the "feel" of our place, you won't be disappointed!

Note: We are in between Bobcaygeon and Buckhorn, and approximately a 15-minute drive from each of these picturesque towns. If you have a boat, it'll take you 10 minutes to boat into downtown Bobcaygeon for dinner or ice cream. The cottage is down a serene, private, winding gravel road. This road is great for runs and walks if you're a nature lover and it's 5km off the main highway. AVAILABILITYLast update: May 02, 2024 |

NOTES We typically rent Summer weeks with a Friday check-in to a Friday check-out, as we've found this timing beneficial to give guests a FULL weekend at the cottage! We do have some flexibility with this, but this is our preference. REVIEWS | Tanya | |
| We stayed in February and we really enjoyed ourselves. The cottage was very clean and spacious, perfect sized living areas as well as the bedrooms. We really appreciated the array of DVDs and board games available, especially when travelling with kids. The cottage was secluded from the neighbouring cottages, so we had our own private space. We also really liked how close it is to the Bobcaygeon, so we were able to explore the town and have lunch out. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience and we would highly recommend!!

| We had a great time here. The cottage is private and has modern amenities. The view was excellent. Everything was clean. The cottage is heated, which was great as we stayed in November. The owner was very nice and quick to reply to any questions. We will definitely be coming back in the Summer next year! Thanks for having us!

| We have rented the W on Pigeon for the second time already. We love everything about that cottage! From its coziness to its location on the perfect cove surrounded by beautiful trees and calm waters.
The cottage is fully furnished with all the comforts you might need. From a well-appointed kitchen, comfortable beds, reliable wifi, plenty of water toys for the summer time, a nice outdoor sauna, board games and a nice large dining room table. The view on the lake from the cottage is like a postcard picture. Stunning.
Ashley - the host - is very attentive and is only a message away and always replies promptly.
We are looking forward to renting this little piece of paradise again in 2024.

| This is the third time my family and I have stayed at the W. It is the highlight of the summer! My kids and my husband love to fish and I love to read books and drink coffee on the dock, so everyone is happy! I am also a runner and the rolling hills around the W are the best! We rent a fishing boat from the local marina as well. The W is an absolute gem. We are going back next year!

| We just returned from our week at the W and already looking forward to booking for two weeks next summer. Even our dog was depressed when we got home! The cottage itself immediately gives you a welcoming home feel, beautifully decorated, fully equipped with incredible views, large dock and very clean. It had all the comforts of home in a lakeside location.
We enjoyed being lulled to sleep by the sounds of crickets and frogs and slept like champs every night in the comfortable beds. During the day we dined in the sunshine on the large deck, loved taking our dog on long walks along nearby trails, took advantage of the kayaks and canoes, fishing and also taking trips into local hotspots in both Bobcaygeon and Buckhorn in our boat. The location is excellent and we couldn't believe how quiet and tranquil it was - a true gem of a place! We were mesmerized by the amount of fireflies in the evenings and loved having our hot dog campfires (wood is provided). We had one day of hard rain but enjoyed going through the massive library of DVD's to select cuddle worthy movies to watch.
Ashley was everything you could want in a host; very informative on the area, responsive to questions and she immediately let us know when the fire ban was lifted which we greatly appreciated. There was a last minute cancellation and we jumped at extending our stay.
Don't hesitate to stay at The W?it is exactly as advertised. Enjoy every minute as it goes by too fast.
