This original stone cottage suite is suitable for 2 people only and is located on East Bay (Eagle Lake) approximately 10 km west of South River on paved roads, a 45 min. drive north of Huntsville and 45 minutes south of North Bay. (Approximately 3 hours north of Toronto). The nearby villages of Sundridge and South River have all the necessary conveniences (Foodland, LCBO, Beer Store, Home Hardware, gas stations and various eateries). It is close to Eagle Lake Golf Course, Eagle Lake Narrows Country Store and beach, Mikisew Provincial Park, Hockey Opportunity Camp, Coughlin's Riding Ranch, South River's Highlander Brewery, Copperhead Distillery, McLaren's Maple Syrup (in spring) and many cycling/walking trails (the Forgotten Trails). Arrowhead Provincial Park is 45 min. away and in winter has spectacular skating trails. Ski, snowshoeing and hiking trails are newly opened at Almaguin High School in South River. Sugar Dogs dog sledding is nearby. Algonquin Provincial Park is about 45 minutes away and OFSC Snowmobile trails are just down the road.

The stone cottage suite is tucked away on 350 feet of lake frontage on 2 acres of wooded property, well back from the road which is on a dead end.

At this piece of paradise, you will enjoy beautiful sunsets or a family of loons from the upper or lower decks overlooking several hundred feet of water frontage. Have an afternoon siesta in the screened porch or a refreshing beverage in the 'courtyard' of perennial flowers. Explore the many islands in the bay by canoe, kayak or paddleboat. Fish for bass in the rowboat. In the evening, roast marshmallows at the fire pit by the water's edge or enjoy a fire in the courtyard. Swim in the quiet, clean bay with entry to sand bottom frontage. (A canoe, paddleboat, rowboat and 2 new lake kayaks are available for use, along with life jackets and paddles) Please note: There are approximately 30 stone steps down to the water from the upper deck. The cottage is about 65 feet from the water's edge. Some mobility is required.

Loved everyone moment at the lake!

A winter wonderland truly. I could not get enough of the fire both inside the cottage and out. Elizabeth, the owner, made a beautiful outside fire for us on our first night with candles all around. Loved talking with her. This gave us the idea to make an outside fire an additional night on our own when all the stars were out. It was breath taking. True silence. To see the stars from the balcony over looking the lake on winter's night, when bundled up and warm inside, was something I will always remember.

Completely recommend this cozy cottage getaway.

Owner response:
Thank you, Rachel! Sometimes I think Winter is the most peaceful and beautiful time to visit the stone cottage. You definitely have the world to yourself!
Thank you for coming. Come back soon!

What a wonderful getaway! I could not have asked for a more enchanting, peaceful place to spend March break. Not only is the cottage itself quaint, comfortable and charming, the views of the surrounding area are absolutely breathtaking! I definitely recommend visiting during the winter months... There is a special beauty in admiring nature blanketed in white! A serene peacefulness.
Moreover, Elizabeth was a wonderful, helpful and caring host. She provides everything you could possibly need and truly does want your stay to be as comfortable and memorable as possible. On our last night at the cottage, she got a beautiful fire going for us. The fire was great and the view of the starry sky was incredible! I won't soon forget it.
I truly, wholeheartedly recommend this cottage to anyone who is looking for a quiet, peaceful retreat. I could not be more pleased with my experience at the Stone Cottage.

Thank you so much Alex. So pleased that you had the rare treat of skating on Eagle Lake! Hope you visit again some time soon!
Elizabeth

The pictures do not do this place justice! It was the perfect place to cozy up for our winter getaway, I can't imagine how beautiful it must be in the summer. The big window in the living room overlooking the ice blue lake was amazing and we caught some beautiful sunsets. When we arrived, Elizabeth already had a cozy fire going for us in the fireplace. She anticipated everything from meeting us at the top of the driveway with the extremely helpful ice crampons for our boots, to lending us her skates so we could skate on Eagle Lake. We would definitely return and recommend this place. Thanks for everything Elizabeth!

Hi Stephanie,
So happy you were able to skate on the lake and try out the kicksled. Summer is just as beautiful! Come back soon!
Elizabeth

The stone cottage is a magical place where everything is beautiful including the hospitality provided by the owner. From the moment we got in, we were welcomed and warm with a fire already started. Instantly, we were relaxed. There are a few things to do in town that we enjoyed such as the Highlander Brew. The cottage itself had a little loft which we chose over the bedroom because it was so cozy. There's is nothing bad I can say about his cottage!
