This original stone cottage suite is suitable for 2 people only and is located on East Bay (Eagle Lake) approximately 10 km west of South River on paved roads, a 45 min. drive north of Huntsville and 45 minutes south of North Bay. (Approximately 3 hours north of Toronto). The nearby villages of Sundridge and South River have all the necessary conveniences (Foodland, LCBO, Beer Store, Home Hardware, gas stations and various eateries). It is close to Eagle Lake Golf Course, Eagle Lake Narrows Country Store and beach, Mikisew Provincial Park, Hockey Opportunity Camp, Coughlin's Riding Ranch, South River's Highlander Brewery, Copperhead Distillery, McLaren's Maple Syrup (in spring) and many cycling/walking trails (the Forgotten Trails). Arrowhead Provincial Park is 45 min. away and in winter has spectacular skating trails. Ski, snowshoeing and hiking trails are newly opened at Almaguin High School in South River. Sugar Dogs dog sledding is nearby. Algonquin Provincial Park is about 45 minutes away and OFSC Snowmobile trails are just down the road.

The stone cottage suite is tucked away on 350 feet of lake frontage on 2 acres of wooded property, well back from the road which is on a dead end.

At this piece of paradise, you will enjoy beautiful sunsets or a family of loons from the upper or lower decks overlooking several hundred feet of water frontage. Have an afternoon siesta in the screened porch or a refreshing beverage in the 'courtyard' of perennial flowers. Explore the many islands in the bay by canoe, kayak or paddleboat. Fish for bass in the rowboat. In the evening, roast marshmallows at the fire pit by the water's edge or enjoy a fire in the courtyard. Swim in the quiet, clean bay with entry to sand bottom frontage. (A canoe, paddleboat, rowboat and 2 new lake kayaks are available for use, along with life jackets and paddles) Please note: There are approximately 30 stone steps down to the water from the upper deck. The cottage is about 65 feet from the water's edge. Some mobility is required.

Diane and Marc..... I love the way you embraced Winter! I enjoyed your stories around the campfire! I hope you don't find your own cabin in the woods too soon and that you will be back! Thanks for spreading the word!
Elizabeth

Thank you to our host, Elizabeth for her hospitality :) We arrived on a very cold winter night to a warm cottage with the fire already lit! She helped us with our bags and showed us around. The cottage is beautiful, charming and inviting. The space is clean, wonderfully decorated and has everything you need for a relaxing getaway.

The surrounding property is gorgeous as well. The cottage is nestled in the trees with a lovely view of the lake from the deck. We got to enjoy the stars at night even though it was very cold since Elizabeth lit a surprise fire in the pit for us!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the stone cottage!

Alda and Earl,
So pleased you enjoyed the Stone Cottage despite the very cold temperatures!
Hope to see you again!
Elizabeth

Elizabeth is an incredible host. She is always there to help and very knowledgeable about the area. She thought our gear is not warm enough for dog-sledding, and no only she brought us sufficient clothes, but also provided her own boots and mittens. We were so moved and eventually had a memorable dog-sledding experience. She also set the fire in fireplace inside the cottage every day to make sure our stay is enjoyable and comfortable. The cottage itself is nice, cozy, and warm. And the stone cottage sets a really high standard for our next cottage experience which I am afraid probably only few can meet.

I definitely would love to come back in summer to see different scenery and enjoy Elizabeth's host again.

Hello Tao,
Thank you so much for the lovely review. I was so happy that you chose the Stone Cottage for your first winter adventure with the Master and it was such a good one. I hope you come back when it is warmer! Til then.... Elizabeth

First off, Elizabeth is an amazing host! She met us at the driveway and helped unpack our things. She had a fire going inside the cottage when we showed up and an outdoor fire lit on our return from dinner in town. This was our second time staying at the stone cottage and it was an amazing way to ring in the New Year! Quiet and relaxing, exactly what we wanted. Despite the -31 degree temperature New Year's Eve, we beared the weather and went snowshoeing on the lake and even tried our hand at a quick toboggan ride down the driveway. We will definently be back! Thank you again Elizabeth!

Ryan and Stephanie...... thank you so much for your very kind words. I think you picked the coldest days of the year but happy that you could get out and enjoy the beauty of Eagle Lake! Come back soon! Elizabeth

Our stay at the cottage was amazing! Elizabeth is wonderful. She thought of everything! She even came to get our fires ready so all we had to do was light them! She is an amazing person as well as host.

The stars are unbelievable!! The air is fresh, and the nights are so quiet you can hear your own heartbeat.

Definitely plan on returning!
