This original stone cottage suite is suitable for 2 people only and is located on East Bay (Eagle Lake) approximately 10 km west of South River on paved roads, a 45 min. drive north of Huntsville and 45 minutes south of North Bay. (Approximately 3 hours north of Toronto). The nearby villages of Sundridge and South River have all the necessary conveniences (Foodland, LCBO, Beer Store, Home Hardware, gas stations and various eateries). It is close to Eagle Lake Golf Course, Eagle Lake Narrows Country Store and beach, Mikisew Provincial Park, Hockey Opportunity Camp, Coughlin's Riding Ranch, South River's Highlander Brewery, Copperhead Distillery, McLaren's Maple Syrup (in spring) and many cycling/walking trails (the Forgotten Trails). Arrowhead Provincial Park is 45 min. away and in winter has spectacular skating trails. Ski, snowshoeing and hiking trails are newly opened at Almaguin High School in South River. Sugar Dogs dog sledding is nearby. Algonquin Provincial Park is about 45 minutes away and OFSC Snowmobile trails are just down the road.

The stone cottage suite is tucked away on 350 feet of lake frontage on 2 acres of wooded property, well back from the road which is on a dead end.

At this piece of paradise, you will enjoy beautiful sunsets or a family of loons from the upper or lower decks overlooking several hundred feet of water frontage. Have an afternoon siesta in the screened porch or a refreshing beverage in the 'courtyard' of perennial flowers. Explore the many islands in the bay by canoe, kayak or paddleboat. Fish for bass in the rowboat. In the evening, roast marshmallows at the fire pit by the water's edge or enjoy a fire in the courtyard. Swim in the quiet, clean bay with entry to sand bottom frontage. (A canoe, paddleboat, rowboat and 2 new lake kayaks are available for use, along with life jackets and paddles) Please note: There are approximately 30 stone steps down to the water from the upper deck. The cottage is about 65 feet from the water's edge. Some mobility is required.

Thank you Elizabeth for a wonderful time at the Stone Cottage! The cottage itself was beautiful and cozy, and the views were spectacular! Canoeing to all of the small islands were absolutely amazing. The area was great and I got my Marg Cunningham painting!! We were definitely very sad to leave. We hope to come again soon and see the cottage in the winter! It was a perfect honeymoon:)

Owner response:
So pleased that you honeymooned at the Stone Cottage! Come back in winter... it is so quiet and magical!

The Stone Cottage is the perfect place to get away, unwind and and relax. The bay is prime for kayaking and pedalboating, the lake is clean and refreshing for a swim, and the lower deck provides the perfect amount of shade and shelter on hot summer afternoons. I also recommend yoga on the dock :)... Your host is a kind, wonderful and generous person who makes sure you have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The rustic charm of this cottage will make you want to stay forever!

Thank you so much Tracy! So impressed... now you are pros at kayaking and paddle boarding! Come back soon!

We loved our time at the Stone Cottage in June, we can't wait to return for more ! The water was warm enough to swim and we made excellent use of all the boating equipment (canoe, kayak and stand up paddle board !). We saw two spectacular sunsets and even had a catch fishing off the dock. Elizabeth is an excellent host, thanks again !

Thank you, Anzel! It was my pleasure having you! Come back soon!

My husband and I rented the cottage for our anniversary and it was the best decision we ever made! The cottage was warm, homely and oh! so beautiful! Elizabeth was so kind and welcoming, we made a wonderful friend. So many magical moments on this short trip from the breathtaking view to the spectacular sunset. We definitely want to keep coming back!

So happy to meet you and share with you your first cottage experience in Canada! You must come back in winter. I promise that you will be toasty warm in the stone cottage! I even have snowshoes for you to try!

I am a repeat guest at this cottage and am hoping you will accept this review. The owner submitted it as per your guideline 3 but it was not accepted. I don't understand your process.

I highly recommend Stone Cottage, DI-17129, for those who looking for a relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings in the South River ON area.
I give this an Excellent rating.
I recently stayed at Stone Cottage, from May 1 to May 31, 2018.
This is the sixth time I have rented this cottage from the host, Ms Bradley, since 2015.
I return to spend time both in the fall and spring to enjoy the beauty of Eagle Lake, watch the passing seasons and take part in the many activities available in the area.
Inside, the cottage is comfortable and cozy with a wood-burning fireplace for chilly evenings and a screened porch for hot days.
The rustic atmosphere promotes rest and relaxation.
Outside, the waterfront can be enjoyed from the hillside and shoreline decks as well as from
two docks.
Boats available are kayaks, canoe and paddle boat.
This is a perfect spot for the nature-lover, the artist, the reader and sports enthusiast, alike, whatever the season.
The amiable host, Ms Bradley, is most welcoming, helpful, and ensures the comfort of guests.
She goes beyond the ordinary to make guests' visits special and memorable.
A return visit is always eagerly anticipated!
