Come and enjoy the peaceful Ritchie Homestead. Built in 1894 this stone house overlooks lovely Lake Huron on the south end of Kincardine on the 12th concession.

With a huge, private lot to play ball, horseshoes, croquet, badminton and tag, the kids will have hours of fun outdoors. Indoors there are board games, cards and many separate areas in the Homestead to find a quiet area.

Mature trees provide summertime shade - a wonderful sunroom and balcony added to the north side of the home have improved the views of those fabulous Lake Huron sunsets and provided lots of extra living space.

The Homestead is located -
-a quick 5 minute walk down the hill to the beach, where you can enjoy a gently sloping grade into the waters of Lake Huron- perfect for old and young alike,
-a 3 minute drive to Ainsdale Golf Course,
-approximately 7 minute drive into the charming town of Kincardine for the weekly Saturday night Pipe Band Parade throughout the summer and
- a 10 minute drive to Tim Hortons and a 24hour Sobeyes on Hwy 21

There are 4 bedrooms and 2-3 piece bathrooms with access to laundry-washer, dryer and a clothes line. Comforters and pillows are provided for each bed. Linens are not provided.

Gathering/entertaining space include the living room/TV room as well as the sunroom, both of which are perfect for reading and playing games.

Bring your computer and stream movies onto the TV or your netflix info and access the smart TV's computer like features.

We had a lovely stay in this extraordinarily beautiful and well-equipped cottage. The first thing we saw as we arrived was a welcome note on the kitchen table, welcoming us to the cottage. Although it only takes a moment to do this, it set the mood for the week and demonstrated that the owner was willing to take the time to do this. She also emailed us on our second day to verify that we arrived ok and make sure everything was ok.
The solarium was our favourite space, with windows all around, a large sitting area and a large table. When the windows are open, there is a beautiful breeze and you can hear the waves on Lake Huron. We did not spend a lot of time on the roof-top patio, as my kids preferred having a screen to keep the bugs out, but we did have dinner there one night and took many pictures of the beautiful sunset over the lake.
I was amazed at out well-equipped the kitchen is. We are used to taking a full rubbermaid bin of kitchen products with us when we travel and much of what we brought remained in the bin because of how well-equipped it was. This kitchen had everything from Cutco knives, to a full spice rack, and all of the coffee, tea and condiments we could have asked for. There were kleenex boxes in virtually every room, and plenty of space to hold all of our items. There was even an iRobot to help us make sure we kept the space as impeccably clean as we found it. We would definitely consider coming back in a heartbeat.

Thank you Cindy for your great review. So glad your family enjoyed their stay at the Homestead and we welcome you back anytime.

A beautiful cottage with everything you need and more. Good sized bedrooms, lovely bathroom, gorgeous sunroom and balcony. Fire pit, horseshoes, large lot that feels very private. So close to the beach and only 5 min drive to Kincardine. We had an excellent stay. Owners are very responsive and accommodating. A fantastic experience.

Thank you Anne. We are very happy you enjoyed your stay at the homestead. So glad the weather was perfect for you.

4 friends celebrated 50+ year reunion of their friendship at the Homestead the first week of October 2020 for 5 nights. We could not have found a better, more fitting Slice Of Heaven to celebrate this reunion. The Homestead was clean and spacious. EVERYTHING has been thought of to ensure the guests comfort and enjoyment. The property is huge and well taken care of. It was so quiet, except for the waves putting you to sleep at night. The night sky is amazing. The lake views from the awesome sunroom are beautiful and calming. The owners respond to any questions promptly. We all wish to return again.

My family and I stayed at The Richie Homestead for the first time in August of 2020. It was perfect for our young granddaughters. The house is beautiful and sparkling clean. The grounds are lovely with plenty of room to run, horseshoe pits and a campfire. The views of Lake Huron are spectacular from the ground and the beautiful rooftop deck. We are looking forward to many more family vacations there!

Thank You Sandy we are thrilled you and your family enjoyed your time at the Homestead. We look forward to hosting you again in the future.

We stayed at the Ritchie Homestead for a week at the beginning of the summer. We went as a family with our 2 small children.
The property is huge and beautiful. The kids ran around happily knowing they had space and couldn't get into any trouble.
The cottage itself was very clean on arrival. The space was perfect for what we needed. The screened in porch and sun deck above were our favourite spaces there. Amazing views of the sunset from each spot, and almost always a good breeze in each.
The master bedroom on the main floor was a great size and the king bed was very comfortable. Our kids beds seemed very comfortable as well.
The bbq was great - a new Napoleon model that was great to cook on. The fire pit was in a perfect location - shaded by a beautiful big tree for earlier campfires for the kids.
The beach was great - about a 7-10 min walk from the cottage for a decent spot to set up. It wasn't too crowded, and everyone kept their distance. Having the wagon there to bring things there and back was key.
We had a wonderful week together and would recommend this cottage for sure.
