We were very disappointed with our stay. The cottage is not comfortable at all. The overall atmosphere of the cottage is stark and lacking any charm. The old sofas are just that. Old. Probably second hand. The recliner sofa does not recline and the one part that is stuck in a partial recline is crooked and broken. When we mentioned the bag of garbage left in the kitchen and the broken chair David became defensive and left us feeling that we had done something wrong. The cookware and utensils looked like something someone had been camping with for 10 years. There were mouse droppings in the dresser, the sliding screen doors do not open or close properly unless you use two hands and shimmy them along the track ( if they don't fall out first). The kitchen windows don't open. The bare bulb blue light led lights do not provide a warm lighting to the rooms. There was trash underneath the upstairs bed and the bedrooms have no bedside tables or lamps.
The laundry machine downstairs has mold in it, so much so that it is growing on the door so we didn't even attempt to do any laundry as the mold smell permeates the whole downstairs. Even the life jackets provided are all moldy. The bbq is greasy and rusty. For the price , this cottage fails to deliver what the ad offers. We left a seven day stay after three days. Owner just thanked us for our concerns. Didn't ask why we left early. No reperation. One star only for the boat as no stars is not an option. Never again.

Craig

The view and property itself are very nice. The house however is not in the best shape as it grows mushrooms in the basement. The hot tub was disgusting. full of dirt and smelt like sweaty old socks. Subpar clean all around and my fiance had to mop the floors when we got there because the house smelt like pee. I also got very sick from the obvious mold/ mushroom in the basement and developed a nonstop cough that was so relentless we left a day early. When we reached out to David the owner he blamed the entire thing on us and claimed if we called during the stay he could have fixed the issues. The mold is not something you can fix in a hurry and his lack of caring solidified that this place is not worth staying at. Especially with children and dogs. Caution for potential renters this home can make you sick and the owner is not good with customer service or property management.

Craig, was pleaseant to deal with during the booking and when he arrived. Craig asked me not to come to the cottage and stopped communicating.

Craig came with a couple dogs. Craig notified me after he left of his concern with the hot tub and he found a mushroom. I changed the water in the hot tub immediately. I asked Craig in the future to be given notice if there is a concern to be fair and let me know so that I may resolve it.
Craig had made an assumption that he was at a different lake in a different region that has a water quality issue. When he informed me of the concern, I shared the correct information. Had he communicated this sooner, this would have allowed him and his family to enjoy the lake.

The mushroom appeared to be from something a previous renter left that was wet. The area was cleaned and treated with mold control.

Craig was pleaseant to deal with and left the place tidy. Communication was good before and after the stay just during was lacking.

Dock Holiday Cottage near Huntsville was absolutely AMAZING. From start to finish. David offers quick and efficient communication. David was able to get us the information as fast as possible given our last minute booking. When we arrived to the cottage, there was room for our vehicle and many others. There is launch close to the cottage down the road - we will bring our seadoos in future. The dock is across a small road offering privacy w. lots to do (water trampoline, paddle board, kayaks, peddle boat). Easy walk in beach while the end of the dock offering canon ball availability! The cottage itself is very clean, the scent of the cottage is clean while offering breath taking views from 3 floors. The hot tub was helpful on rainy days and the house offers lots of space to enjoy. The property boasts privacy and well kept areas outside to enjoy as well. We can't wait to bring our families and friends here!

The cottage was amazing, super clean me and my girlfriend had a great time. Accessing to the lake was super easy, very secluded/private and super quiet. The lake was very beautiful and clean.
