One of the best properties in Tiny. Sand is soft, water is shallow and moslty calm, shore line does not many big rocks, limited mosquitos and close enough to Midland.
Her home is a wonderful mix of rustic and modern (newly renovated basement)! Spacious and clean.

Thank you so much Adrian for taking the time to write a review! I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. I will make sure that if you want to rent it again, you have priority :)

We have just completed another idyllic week at this cottage. This is our second year visiting and I have hesitated to leave a review as I selfishly want to keep this gem a secret. The cottage is clean, modern, fully supplied except for food and personal items. The pictures do not do it justice. The short path through the dunes to the pristine beach is the perfect distance from the cottage for the safety of my grandchildren, for whom I have rented the last two years. The location is close to Midland for shopping, movies or even a quick Tim's coffee run on a rainy day! We are grateful that Dr. Janelle shares this special place and we look forward to returning next summer!

We have rented several times over the years, fall and summer. Fabulously comfortable cottage in a truly beautiful setting. Great sand beach, evening fire-pit in the dunes. Cooking made easy with gas barbecue just outside kitchen. Family-sized tables for meals inside and outside. Big fridge and freezer drawers. Modern bath and showers. Umbrellas, chairs, a few paddle boards and a wheel barrow to carry everything. DVD's, books. A place to relax and unwind and have some genuine family time.

The cottage is beautiful and from the photos in the listing, it appeared to be exactly what we were looking for. However we encountered a few problems unfortunately:

1. The cottage was not well-cleaned and we found old garbage and recycling on the deck that had been there for a long time. Also there was poop in the toilet. Photos available.

2. Water was not turned on and the instructions provided were unclear. We called the numbers listed for support and were unable to reach the owner. We called the cleaner next and she was very helpful, although she advised us that she no longer works for the owner. The owner called back at 10pm (hours later)

3. In our initial communications were asked specifically if we can have a fire in the fire pit and made it clear that we would not rent if we could not have a fire. Upon our arrival we found that the fire permit was expired. Photo of expired permit available.

4. We paid $75 cleaning fee while we were also asked in the instructions to clean the cottage (in high detail).

Despite these issues, we stayed for the duration of our planned rental. Everyone in our group had already taken the time off work and it would have been such a waste to just cancel entirely. After the rental was completed we sent a number of emails to the owner and never received a response. If a response had been provided which addressed the above concerns, we would not be writing this review.

Good luck!

Owner response:
Solveiga, I am very sorry I thought my assistant had taken care of responding.
#1: I cleaned the cottage myself 3 days before you came. Everyone has always been very satisfied before. Recycling cannot go out before Sunday night so it could not be done, flexibility is a must. The recycling boxes on the deck are there so that it's obvious that the recycling needs to go there. There was no garbage as I put it in the garbage bin.

So sorry about the poop. I am very surprised but it could happen. Someone goes to the bathroom, flushes and things come back up and we don't always check after we have flushed. Again I'm very surprised.

#2 Water: I am sorry that you found it challenging, the instructions say to turn on the straight red handles by the pump on the floor of the utility room. I am not sure how else to explain it. Maybe I can add a picture on the list. I responded to your message as soon as I got it and had provided different back up phone numbers and Cathy had taken care of answering you. It's correct I have a new cleaning person.

#3 You could have made a fire. The cottage association had the permit so there was no problem for you to do it, I was just a call or a text away if you had doubts.

#4 I am sorry that you feel that you did not get the right response. Many of the renters come back to rent over and over again, it seems that there was some miscommunication and I will make sure to address this in the future. I wish you all the best. Lise

Spent a beautiful winter weekend at this cottage, cross country skiing along the frozen lake and on an extensive network of nearby rail trails. Even in the winter the beach is beautiful, extending for kilometres in each direction. The area gets lots of snow and the skiing is wonderful. The area and beach are gorgeous, as are views out of the cottage especially the sunsets over the water. The cottage looks much better than in the pictures, beautifully decorated, very well maintained, everything has been updated or new and the place is immaculate. It's incredibly spacious with high wood ceilings, yet cozy, warm and inviting. One of the nicest cottages and areas I know and look forward to returning.
