This amazing family cottage is located on a sensational waterfront property on Go Home Lake, a hidden treasure!
GHL Retreat is located just 1.5 hours north of Toronto. Most cottages on this lake are water access only, however, GHL Retreat is easily accessed from the highway and conveniently situated near the town of Bala. Be sure not to miss the weekly ski show on Tuesday nights!
The Property
Follow the winding private road through Crown land to GHL Retreat. The driveway leads you to granite steps down to the cottage and waterfront of this lovely and enchanting hideaway. Lots of space for parking and for the kids to run and play!
Lakeside, our deck offers one of the longest views on Go Home Lake and is only a few steps down to the water. The waterfront area has a sun-kissed dock and fire pit, for campfires under the stars! The water is shallow and sandy at the shore, perfect for little ones. Further out is a lily pad for the kids and adults to play and relax.
With 190 feet of picturesque lakefront, the property boasts sweeping views of Go Home Lake and is tucked away beside a bay and protected by crown land. Explore the lake and bays by canoe or kayak, or just relax in the Muskoka chairs as you take in the magnificent view. Follow the winding paths on the property to Sunset Point to enjoy the spectacular setting sun or play in your own private bay.
The Cottage
This bright and cheerful cottage, with 3 bedrooms, loft and 1 bath, plus a bunkie, will welcome you to lake life!
The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances, including a dishwasher, stove and microwave. There's even a super convenient stacked washer/dryer for the times you need to throw in a quick load! The deck is large enough for two patio tables with umbrellas and features a propane barbecue for grilling.
The inside dining area boasts a warm harvest table with seating for a family of 8. All with views of the lake! With an open concept, the kitchen and dining areas open up into the charming great room with high ceilings and a loft overlooking the area. The great room/family room features a propane fireplace. Cozy up on the sectional couch for family time with a DVD and popcorn! We have Bell satellite and a 55" TV to watch sports, catch up on the news or PVR your favourite shows! You will also find a card table, also situated with a beautiful view of the lake.
Sliding doors open into a screened in porch that stretches across the side of the cottage, offering partial views of the lake. This porch is another great space to relax, play some games, or chat! The screened-in porch also leads out to the deck.
The master bedroom features a luxurious queen bed, while the second bedroom is a double bed. The third bedroom holds a bunk bed with single mattresses and a reading nook. The loft, a quick climb up the ladder, houses a king bed and a bird's eye view of the great room. A spotless 3-piece bathroom, with shower and laundry, rounds out the floorplan in the main cottage.
The bunkie, just off the screened-in porch, faces the lake for more breath-taking views. The bunkie includes a queen bed with an additional set of single bunk beds in the adjoining room. The bunkie also houses a composting toilet. For your comfort, a flat screen tv and DVD player is provided, along with an electric fireplace for those cool fall nights.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
All beds have protection covers. Bring your own linens or they can be provided for an additional cost. Be sure to bring your own beach towels!
