Very private, Beaver Point Lake House is a charming, one and a half storey log-clad cottage of post & beam construction built in 2006. It is located on a lovely wooded lot overlooking a small, quiet, spring-fed lake (only a few other cottages and no motor-boats) about 50 minutes north of Ottawa-Gatineau. It is close to Lac Saint-Pierre (for those wishing to boat on a larger lake), as well as downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and golf. With three bedrooms and one and a half baths, the property is suitable for one or two couples or a small family with school age children. There is a maximum of six guests. There is a bedroom upstairs with a queen-sized bed, built in window seat, and two-piece bathroom; a main floor bedroom with double bed and another bedroom with a twin-over-twin bunk bed. A three-piece bathroom is on the main floor. Clean linens and towels for up to six people are provided or if you prefer to supply your own, that can be arranged in advance of your visit. The open concept well-equipped kitchen, living and dining space complete the main floor. A high-efficiency fireplace provides cozy warmth in cooler weather. A gazebo overlooks the lake for open air lunches in warmer months. This is a place of relaxed re-connection with nature, supplemented by your favourite books, games, meals, wine and music. With pine floors, high ceilings, wrap-around windows and comfortable furnishings, Beaver Point is a restful retreat any time of the year. In summer, relax in the gazebo by the water; in winter, curl up in front of the fire. There is no television to distract but there is a small stereo system with CD player and iPod port, a small library and games. Cell phone reception is good and wireless internet is provided. The open kitchen is well-equipped with a ceramic-top stove, convection oven, toaster oven, coffeemaker, kettle, microwave, refrigerator, double sink, dishes, cookware, and utensils. Water comes from an artesian well and is safe to drink. The dining room farm table seats six comfortably. A covered porch offers a barbeque for those who prefer to grill.
The summer offers excellent swimming from a sunny deck on a small point of land stretching out into the lake or from the cottage's swim raft. A canoe and two kayaks are available for use, at renters' own risk.
Abundant wildlife including beaver, deer, turtles, porcupine, racoons, ducks and other birds can be found in and around the lake. The lake is motor free but a public boat launch is available ten minutes away on Lac Saint Pierre.
The well-insulated cottage is warm and comfortable in winter. It is heated by a high-efficiency fireplace with electric baseboard heaters as back-up. Good quality firewood is supplied. There are several ski hills nearby: Edelweiss is about 20 minutes away, Mont Cascade and Vorlage about 25 minutes each. Cross-country skiers can ski around the lake or on well-groomed trails at Nakkertok (about 15 minutes from the cabin) or in Gatineau Park (about 25 minutes away). Snowshoers can explore the vicinity starting from the cabin door. The roads are well-maintained in winter and many people in the area commute daily to Ottawa-Gatineau. Snow tires are advised.
Groceries and supplies are available within a 10 to 15 minute drive to either the village of Saint-Pierre de Wakefield or the village of Poltimore.
There is no smoking on the property. To protect local fauna, pets are only permitted by prior agreement. Please discuss with us in advance if you wish to bring your pet.
There is a maximum of six persons, including children.
A deposit of 50% is required at the time of booking, refundable up to four weeks in advance of the rental start date. A damage deposit is also required.
Quebec government COVID-19 guidelines are followed. Renters will need to provide information on those staying and to attest to their wellness before arrival. A key box is provided to limit face-to-face contact with guests.
Rentals are weekly only in July and August, and during March break, unless otherwise arranged. Minimum two-night stay at other times.

| The description says it all. Had a wonderful time with kids for holidays. The chalet really makes you feel like you are alone and own the forest. Made the kids walk in the woods just like I was kid to make them forget a bit about Wifi!
Confortable place to enjoy cooking a good meal and have a drink after a great day outdoor. Kitchen is well equiped and central to the chalet.
Quiet place to unwind, read and re connect with nature.
Thanks Joyce and Marc.

| Beaver Point Lakehouse is a special place. We had a wonderful weekend and wish we could have stayed longer. Its proximity to Ottawa makes it an ideal location for a short getaway. The chalet is nestled among trees and is well integrated with the natural environment. A winding path, carpeted with pine needles and bordered with moss covered logs, leads down to a tranquil spring fed lake, Lac Lockhart. Inside the well-equipped Lakehouse, the walls of windows artfully frame the branches and tree trunks of the outdoor world. This is a very clean, tastefully decorated cottage that is just as the owner described. We highly recommend this chalet to anyone looking for a peaceful escape from the city.

| A beautiful spot for a peaceful retreat to relax and recharge. The cottage itself is charming and everything inside the cottage is lovely and perfectly maintained. The kitchen is nicely laid out and fully equipped, the fireplace is cozy and the beds are comfy. The lake is small with clear water and completely surrounded by trees. There is a sturdy dock and a nice covered sitting place right by the water. We had many long walks (no swim since it was late October - maybe next time!) and lots of time snug inside reading books and enjoying the fall colours out the many windows.
