Langton House- Luxury Historical Muskoka Cottage

Langton House is situated on two acres of waterfront property on the narrows of Lake of Bays. This historical retreat was built as a farmhouse in 1895 and converted into a holiday resort in the 1920s. Today, it is an elegant cottage that sleeps 10. The thoughtful, distinctive interiors have been featured in numerous interior design publications.

MAIN HOUSE

The main house features a eat-in kitchen that opens into a sunroom with views of the extensive perennial gardens. The generous dining room provides a convivial space for 10, perfect for gathering family and friends. The main floor also includes a living room, billiard room, and powder room. On the second floor, you'll find seven bedrooms. There are also two full bathrooms, one three-piece and one four-piece (walk-in shower and bathtub).


BOATHOUSE, DOCK AND GROUNDS

Beyond the sunroom and gardens, there is a playing field that has been outfitted for badminton. This area can also accommodate baseball, soccer, croquet, and other lawn games. Two sets of stairs lead to the waterfront. The large dock is furnished with Muskoka chairs and chaises. The original three-slip boathouse is equipped with a kayak, canoe and toys. From the dock, you can either jump into the lake or ease gently into the water by stepping into the sandy bottomed shallows. There is also a sandy beach area next to the boathouse, which is ideal for children.

LOCATION AND AMENITIES

Langton House is a 2-hour drive from Toronto. The surrounding area has much to offer. It is a quick 5-minute drive from Baysville. The villages of Dorset and Dwight are 30-minute drives, and it is just a 1-hour to drive to Algonquin Park. The Bigwin Inn is a 15-minute drive away to the landing dock.
