Cozy cottage on Cockscomb Lake, gorgeous sunrises, and star-filled skies features all the conveniences of your home away from home. Walk right into the lake, boat, swim, kayak, or hike the trails around Uniacke Estates Museum. Gas station, Tim Hortons, Convenience Store and NSLC Boutique (liquor store) all within 10 minutes.
Minimum stay: 5 nights.
The Cottage:
The cottage is cozy (under 1000 square feet) but has all the creature comforts you need to enjoy your vacation. If you're seeking time outside of the city, but in close proximity (25 minutes from shopping in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and 35 minutes from downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia) this is the perfect place for you.
Guest access
Wifi (Rural high speed internet) Sufficient to watch Netflix ;)
TV in the master bedroom (wall-mounted) and downstairs in living room. Both have Netflix available
BBQ (propane)
Full kitchen - Plates, cutlery, bowls, utensils, pots, pans, toaster, kettle, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, coffee maker, etc. are available for your use.
Heat pump - keeps you cool or warm depending on the weather.
Small washroom - stand up shower - no bathtub.
There is an apartment sized washer and dryer available for your use.
Board Games - Trivial Pursuit, Taboo, Scrabble, Yahtzee.
Bedding, towels, face cloths, pillows etc. will all be provided.
Toilet Paper, Paper Toil, cleaning supplies, etc. will all be provided.
Boating & Dock - if you have a boat, you can launch it directly from the property, and there is a dock to tie up to. The lake is fresh water and perfect for swimming. The dock is approx. 24' long.
NOTE: Boaters stay outside the buoys, Swimmers stay inside the buoys.
Cockscomb Lake is approx. 3 km long by 1 km wide.
Pets - my home is dog friendly - but many of the neighbours have dogs - so well socialized pets would likely do best.
Groceries - Both Superstores in Sackville, Nova Scotia and Windsor, Nova Scotia, offer on-line ordering and pick up - save yourself the time of shopping for an extra hour at the lake.
Wildlife & Nature - My home is located about 3 km off the main road and there is lots of wildlife including birds, geese, ducks, porcupines, foxes, beavers, deer, turtles, racoons, etc. Please keep this in mind if you have children or pets, and when you put out garbage.
Working from the cottage - if you need to work while on vacation - there is a desk and printer than can be set up to accommodate your needs.
Bonfires - there is a burn pit for fires - but you will have to check the daily burn restrictions to ensure it's safe to burn https://novascotia.ca/burnsafe/
Interaction with guests - I will meet you upon arrival, and provide a full tour of the house, and answer any questions you have.
I will be a few houses away and available in case of emergency, or questions. I may drop over to cut the grass if it rains on check in day. You can call or text with questions or concerns.
Other things to note:
If you are visiting the local area, or Nova Scotia for the first time - I'd be happy to provide you with an overview of the available events, activities, trails etc.
