If you dream to be by the warm, shallow, crystal clear water of beautiful Lake Huron, this is the best place to be. Depends on the lake's water levels our sandy beach might be big or small or can be covered with water (like last summer), but we built a 16-foot long deck at the beach area for our guests to enjoy and to ensure they have a dry place when the water level is high.

Welcome to Blue Heron Beach House. Our home is located directly on the water, by the end of a private, no exit road at Petrel point in Red Bay, South Bruce Peninsula, surrounded by the beautiful Petrel point nature reserve

The cottage is conveniently located on the west side (Lake Huron side) of South Bruce Peninsula. The location is suitable for many interesting half and day-long trips and is a short drive from attractions, markets and shops. It is about 45 minutes away from Tobermory and the Grotto in Bruce Peninsula National Park (, about 15 minutes away from Wiarton, the town of the famous Wiarton Willie ( and 15 minutes away from Sauble Beach.

Blue Heron Beach House offers a romantic escape from the city and gives visitors a chance to disconnect and immerse themselves in the beauty of nature.

This home is perfect for families looking for a peaceful and safe place for their kids to play, go on walks or play in the water, romantic getaways for couples looking to relax, unwind and reconnect with nature.

We had the pleasure of renting Blue Heron Beach House for a week in August. This is a perfect getaway, especially if you have young children. The kids will love all of the wildlife (frogs, turtles, many types of birds, big bull frogs and especially friendly little chipmunks). We brought our bikes and enjoyed exploring the area. There are walking trails close by at Petrel Point Nature Reserve which were really nice also. The cottage is cozy and comfortable and very kid friendly. We used the whole property to the max - both decks, fire pit and the dock. The water is warm and shallow even though this year the levels were higher than normal. Gerrie and Alex are super hosts, and are always available to answer any questions. Thanks Gerrie and Alex!

Dear Julie, it was real pleasure meeting you and having your family as our guests. We are happy you had a great time and you are always welcome if you decide to come back. All the best! Gerrie and Alex

We just got got home from renting Gerrie and Alex's cottage. The cottage is so well kept very comfy and cozy, Has everything you need Gerrie and Alex were the best hosts. The water is so warm and beautiful and you can walk almost the whole lake. My 2 year old daughter loved looking for frogs and birds. There is a nice sandbox and toys for kids. We loved sitting on the porch drinking our morning coffee watching all the different kinds of birds. The town of Wiarton is only 15 mins away for shopping and tobermory is 45 mins away to see beautiful lake Huron. They have a nice library of books amd games. We will definitely be coming back :)

Thank you Jenn, we are happy you had a wonderful time and it was pleasure meeting you and your family. You are also great guests. Looking forward to see you again in the future and enjoy the rest of the summer.

Blue Heron Beach House - we would definitely rent this property again. The owners were extremely welcoming and ensured that our stay was enjoyable, communication was perfect from day one of our inquiry. The cottage had everything we needed, roomy enough to sleep six, with comfortable beds and a well-appointed kitchen. Two lovely decks, one off the kitchen for a morning coffee or quiet read, and another larger deck overlooking the yard and fire pits (one closer to the cottage, and one near the water). The cottage is perfect for families, with a small private sandy beach, and the water is shallow for a long way, with a sandy bottom surrounding the dock further out. Close to Sauble Beach, Wiarton, Lions Head and Tobermory for day trips and exploring the area. Loved the frogs and friendly chipmunks and chickadees, and the quiet bay to paddle board (supplied by the owners) and kayak around. Great experience, topped with beautiful Lake Huron sunsets.

Thank you Melanie, it was great pleasure meeting your wonderful family. You are amazing guests and we will be happy to see you again in the future.

Our family of four had a wonderful weeklong vacation at this cozy, clean and well-maintained cottage. Gerrie is a wonderful and thoughtful host who made us feel very welcome and comfortable, and was readily available throughout the week to answer any questions we had.

The property has everything required for relaxing family time ? books, magazines, puzzles, a child's sandbox, two playful peanut-loving chipmunks, and a fantastic area for evening campfires. There's lots of open space for sunbathing by day and stargazing at night.

One morning, we spotted a wild hare by the sandbox, the bay is populated by herons and the pathway to the natural shoreline features lots of little frogs. The privacy of the small beach area at the shore is a nice touch. The water is warm and clean and the shallow depth enabled us to safely learn paddle boarding in the bay.

The cottage is very well situated for day trips in the area, including Tobermorey, Bruce Peninsula National Park Wiarton, Lion's Head and Sauble Beach. Back at the cottage, Petrel Point Nature Reserve is within a short walking distance and is not to be missed. Its easy-to-navigate walkways take you through meadow marshes ? where gorgeous wild orchids and carnivorous plants are plentiful ? and into a serene forested area.

Among the most memorable aspects of this west-facing property are the sunsets ? absolutely stunning and a highlight of our vacation.

Thank you Gerrie. We are definitely planning to come back.

Dear Angela, it was pleasure meeting you and your family and you are outstanding guests, that will be always welcome to our cottage. Looking forward to see you again in the future.

I usually do not write a reviews, but this cottage experience really deserves one. We stayed at Gerrie's cottage about a week ago, and this truly was the best cottage experience we ever had. First will start with our host, she is extremely nice person, who wants to make sure her guests have the best experience and thanks to her we really had a great time. She came to meet and great us for 5 min and give us important information. After that we asked her couple of times for advice(with messages) and she was very fast to respond and very helpful. The cottage itself is beautiful, nicely decorated, extremely clean and comfortable. This place has linens and towels which is a huge convenience. We spend most of our time outside on the patios or backyard, which are very well maintained and beautifully decorated with real flowers. the views are amazing from every corner and the fire pit area is a place you never want to leave. The beach is another amazing place, what a difference from the cold water on the other site of the peninsula, clean , warm and shallow water and these have to see it to believe it.
We also visit the Petrel Point Nature Reserve that is located across the street from the cottage, it turn out is a very special place, where you can see very rare flowers ans spot special species of birds and turtles. One of the days the weather was not so good but overall we had a great time and looking forward to go back again.
Thank you
