We stayed at Cedarstone for a family Christmas with 10 adult guests and a baby visiting us from abroad and it was truly a magical time for everyone. Beyond the charm of the cottage's location, right on Kennisis Lake, Rosanne and Drew's efforts to make this place a true home are mindblowing. The decoration is splendid and extremely detail-oriented, everything is provided (you truly only need to bring food and clothes and will want for nothing!), and our hosts went as far as offering to set up Christmas decorations both inside and outside, which really made our stay even more magical. They were very available, organized and helpful and truly a pleasure to exchange with. We also rented snowmobiles and went dog sledding with the Haliburton Forest Reserve which is approx. 15-20 minutes away with a car so I really recommend that place for that reason too: you'll have access to a lot of activities even in the winter. Just make sure you have a 4x4 and/or winter tires if going in the winter. It's a must and Rosanne will (rightly) insist on it. Truly truly recommend this place, and will definitely keep it in mind if we ever need somewhere to go with a big crowd again. Thanks again to them both for everything!

What an amazing place to bring our family together. We have made some lovely memories here. Paddling at sunrise, big family meals around the table, swimming (we have three little mermaids under 5 years old!), dusk campfires, scarlet sunsets, wildlife spotting (loons, deer, snapper turtles, garter snake, fox) diving competitions, fantastic trip to Blueberry Isle to cliff jump, pontoon through five lakes at Halliburton, the wolf centre, glass blowing, brewery (Boshkung Brewery & Halliburton Highlands), delicious meal at 'Rhubarb' and fish and chips at 'Baked & Battered', and a beautiful autumn walk at Centennial Ridges in Algonquin Provincial Park. Thank you Rosanne and Drew for our stay in your gorgeous home!

Cedarstone Lakehouse was extremely well equipped right down to the spices! As a large family travelling with children it was important to have a home away from home and this met our expectations. A few minor issues were a leaking sink, stove that didn't always work and a BBQ that's temperature gage was broken so very difficult to cook at the right temp which was frustrating. For those planning to come to Cedarstone, make sure to adhere to ALL rules and expectations as well as cleaning up and triple checking before you leave in case you have forgotten something on the final to do list. All in all it was a pleasant stay at Ceadarstone Lakehouse.

Owner response:
We're glad you enjoyed your stay, and we thank you for taking the time to write your review. We appreciate the feedback as we strive to improve the guest experience and take all guest feedback under advisement. Please allow me to respond to each item individually:

SINK: The leak has been repaired. For small items like this, we can typically resolve them same day as we live nearby and encourage guests to call us anytime.

STOVE: No repairs required as the stove is in full working order. That said, we'll provide operation instructions.

BBQ: We're looking into replacing the gauge but this is proving to be difficult to find. The BBQ works so we hope guests can manage without it while we source the part. For future guests, please accept our apologies in advance for any inconvenience.

CHECK-OUT REQUIREMENTS: Thanks for bringing this up as it is an important fixture in our guest experience plan. Our priority is to provide an immaculately cleaned, well-stocked, and organized cottage. We also take great pride in our guests being able to check-in on time. To achieve this, our 3-person changeover team needs the allotted time for tasks outside of guest responsibilities listed in the check-out requirements. We will continue to be completely transparent about these requirements in the contract and pre-rental emails, and we'll continue to provide the unparalleled experience our guests have come to expect.

Thank you for choosing Cedarstone Lakehouse for your family vacation.

Words cannot express the beauty of not only the cottage, but the property and Paddy's Bay, they were all truly amazing. Rosanne & Drew are exceptional hosts and everything needed was already in place when we arrived. When they say just bring food & clothes they aren't kidding as we lacked nothing for our stay. There is excellent fishing in the bay and the loons made the stay even more enjoyable each morning & evening with their beautiful calls. The peacefulness was beyond belief and if you are looking for solitude you can't find a better place. My wife & I used the week as our 2nd Honeymoon returning to the area we visited 30 years ago and couldn't have found a better place to spend it. Thanks again for our best vacation in years.

What a fantastic place to stay! The cottage itself is absolutely beautiful, and Roseanne's attention to detail made our stay so enjoyable. The whole cottage was spotless. Roseanne met us when we got there and made sure we knew how everything worked.

The beds were all comfortable. Each bedroom and bathroom had plenty of room to put things away. The kitchen was well stocked. We had a large group and we never ran out of dishes. Appliances are top of the line.

We loved the fireplace, and wished we had more time just to relax in front of it, sipping wine. And of course the setting is great, surrounded by trees, overlooking the lake. So peaceful! We would have liked to go skating but the ice was too rough because of the rain they had earlier. Still, it was nice to go out for walks. Some of our group brought snowmobiles and enjoyed the area trails.

There is a huge and varied selection of movies, books, board games, and music. Our evenings were spent playing games (so much fun with a large group), and listening to cool music. The play area downstairs was a big hit with the kids. And of course the pool table was lots of fun.

There's something about 3 generations of a family getting together in a stress-free place and really connecting again. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer. We'll definitely be coming back.
