Because of our location at the north end of the beautiful Shuswap Lake on our beach you have the longest daylight hours on the lake. There is no shortage of activities between boating, swimming, tanning, biking and hiking to enjoy that glorious sunshine. Our 4 lakefront wilderness cabins are located on over 2.5 treed acres with a private, beach, which is a mix of rugged rock and sand, on the edge of an unparalleled backcountry.

I rented all 4 cabins for ourselves and 3 of my kids, their spouses and their kids. One week.

We were disappointed. Long story short: we had the exact same problems that Rachelle reported. Septic pump failure, sewage seeping out of the tank, horrible smell, toilet backed up, could not shower, had to use outhouse.

The problems started one day in (Monday), but no one came to fix till Wed. The poor guy worked hard (in 32 deg heat), and it seemed to work, but broke down again one day later. With the septic system still non-functional, no one showing up to fix it, we decided to leave Saturday morning. My daughter and son-in-law and their 3 kids in cabin 2 left on Friday morning: they could not get any of their kids to use the outhouse.

Friday evening, the remainder of us decided to have a nice dinner on the common deck together, potluck. Everyone brought a great dish. But the stench drifting in from the liquid seeping out of the septic tank ruined this dinner too. No one was showering, most were not using toilets, we were doing our dishwashing in plastic bins so that we could dump the dirty water over the balcony railings rather than down the drain. Hence our decision to leave.

Shane did refund $1500 of the $5200, but even considering that, we got very little value for our money. We could have come with 4 tents and 4 camp stoves and stayed at a campground for a fraction of the price, and we would not have had the bad smell.

While disappointing, this is not a common occurrence and in fact our systems typically work very well, this is the second time we have had a failure in the 8 years the system has been in say no one showed up for two days is somewhat in error as Doris my manager was there on the first night and I did my best to find solutions and provide direction over the phone. we also arranged for a plumber to get to the site and when the system again failed it was Friday and I could not get anyone to the property until the next week. When I did provide a refund i thought that this matter was resolved so was quite surprised by this review.
Sunny Waters is in a remote location and while most times if an issue arises we are able to at least provide a solution until or unless we need professional assistance. As you can see from the majority of our customers the not only love the location, they embrace its remoteness despite some of the challenges that can provide. Shane

We had a great time at Sunny Waters! Shane was very accommodating and the scenery was spectacular. Sunny Waters is very family orientated and 3 out of 4 cabins were occcupied by families.

The cabins are well equipped with everything you will need. Just pack your beding, towels, groceries, beach toys and a book.

Absolutely do not rent these cabins at all.

Upon arrival the cabin had a disgusting odour of sewage so bad that we had to open the windows (and that didn't do much). The toilet wouldn't flush properly, and septic would come up into the shower. We couldn't even use the toilet or shower. We left the cabin the very next day and had notified Shane and Nancy and haven't heard back since and its already been 10 days. I am out $1000 dollars because of these people, and haven't received a reply or my refund.

Poor maintenance of the cabins, poor customer service. Just an absolute overall horrible experience, and this was the only vacation time I had for the year and these people have the courtesy to take my money and not even respond to me.

Thank you for the feedback. Unfortunately we experienced the "perfect storm". This was a mechanical breakdown in our system that no one could have predicted and regular maintenance did not avoid, when a float malfunctioned causing a pumping failure in the septic unit. The system is five years old and was installed to provide our guests with the best experience in a remote environment. Our property manager did the best she could as soon as possible but it was difficult to get it repaired due to our location. It has since been repaired and fully functional. As for our delayed response Nancy and I were dealing with the sudden passing of her father and did not have access to our systems to enable us to process the refund, we had asked that our manager pass these circumstances along to the customer. Customer Service is our highest priority as we have never received a compliant regarding our service. We have returned to our home today and full refund has been submitted. We apologize for this unique situation. Shane

The kids and I have been coming to Sunny Waters over the last 8 years.
Shane and Nancy along with Doris(manager) have provided our family the opportunity to experience what I believe the best piece of heaven a family would care to enjoy. Their spot on the lake is priceless.The community deck is the perfect place to take in the views of the billion stars at night , sharing conversations while relaxing by the fire and or tanning and games during the day ! The large boat pier needs some minor work but serves as a great place to take off for water sports , swimming, fishing and sunning. The cabins provide more than the necessary housing requirements as the fridge/ freezer, stove/oven , washrooms with shower, and bbq provide everything a family needs. Any issues we had with the above Doris was able to fix within a short period of time.
Nancy and Shane are always approachable and have treated us with respect and courtesy.
Just to share what type of people your dealing with:
My father passed away while we were driving to Sunny Waters a few years back and we had to cancel our trip to the cabin. I notified Shane a day later to let him know and he had nothing but sincere compassion for our situation and refunded our money.
Doris, is alway willing to lend a hand or any of her own personal equipment to you if you need help.

We will always have great memories of Sunny Waters and will always have Shane, Nancy and Doris in our thoughts.

We love it here!! Our family has the tradition of vacationing in the Shuswap yearly. We have had the pleasure of renting all 4 cabins for our stay the past 2 years and are again booked with Shane and Nancy at Sunny Waters this coming summer.

If you are looking for a 5 star resort with wifi, shopping and a jetted tub this is not for you. If you are looking for peace, tranquility, and the opportunity to explore everything the Shuswap area really has to offer, you are in the right place! The cabins are isolated and have no cell service. The area is thick with trees, trails and endless areas to explore! For us, it is the perfect place to truly get away. The cabins are tidy, spacious and functional. They easily accommodate four adults and two children. They provide a comfortable place to relax and gather if the weather turns. The shower is great and we always had hot water (may have to let it run a few minutes first). Never had a problem with septic or electricity. The stoves, fridges and bbqs all worked great.

We rent all 4 cabins to fit our family and it works great for us. The private beach, patio and dock allow for us to pick up and go whenever we want. We fish and swim off the dock, spend our days water skiing, surfing and exploring the trails. In the evenings we join together and enjoy a fire on the deck.

Shane and Nancy have always been wonderful to deal with. They are a wealth of information on all the area has to offer so ask lots of questions!! Enjoy!
