THE THREE CHURCHES ON MAHONE BAY HARBOR ARE ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS WATER VIEWS IN CANADA and Loon Lodge on Mahone Bay Harbor has the best, WATERFRONT view of these remarkable landmarks and harbor from your 90-FOOT PRIVATE WHARF, shaded porch, living room/ dining room picture windows and bedrooms. Walk, paddle or bike in the Lodge boats/bikes to all the village attractions, or enjoy water sports in the warm harbor waters off the wharf float.
The Wikipedia entry for Mahone Bay says: "The view across the harbour of its three prominent churches . . . has become an iconic image of Nova Scotia, frequently photographed and featured in postcards and calendars" That is your view from Loon Lodge!
Loon Lodge faces southwest and the STUNNING VIEWS OF THE CANADIAN SUNSETS over the harbor are a much anticipated nightly event (see attached photos). You'll often see loons, eagles, ospreys, great blue herons, kingfishers and diving ducks near the Lodge pier.
Mahone Bay, on the famous Lighthouse Route, is known throughout Canada for its picturesque harbor, 350 sea islands, excellent outdoor recreation, varied arts, architecture and great restaurants and pubs. The village is 70 min from the Halifax airport and 15 min to nearby Lunenburg and Chester (see www.mahonebay.com for info and events).
Loon Lodge, directly across lovely Mahone Bay Harbor from the main village, is our personal home, not just another rental house and sleeps 5 in 3 bedrooms. 1.5 baths, baby items, full dining room with water views, eat-in kitchen, cook books, large new casement viewing windows, leather furniture, 42" HD TV, iPod stereo dock, HI-SPEED WIFI BROADBAND SERVICE, freezer, elegant new porch & pier furniture, antiques and original folk art (we're serious collectors). The bedrooms have comfortable mattresses with hi-thread-count linens, hotel-quality towels and water views through large new casement windows. Also included are the 90-FOOT PRIVATE PIER WITH SWIM FLOAT & CHILD SAFETY GATE, two Old Town kayaks, a lightweight Old Town canoe, life jackets, varied water toys (boogie boards, float lounges, tubes, snorkeling gear, beach toys and gear), 3 bikes, bike helmets and indoor/outdoor games to play on the large lawn. Also included is a detailed "THINGS TO DO" binder. The house sleeps 5 adults plus one infant or small child in the crib/playpen with hi-chair and Diaper Genie. Sorry - due to septic and well restricitons, THERE IS NO DISHWASHER but plenty of hot water for dishes and showers.
Loon Lodge is situated at the foot of a lovely wooded hill on one of the PROVINCE'S LOVELIEST WATERSIDE ROADS, which you'll never tire of walking, biking and driving as it meanders a few kms out to the sea islands and the postcard-quaint village of Indian Point.
ALSO INCLUDED: touring, hiking, biking, birding and travel guides, local maps, binoculars, harbor charts, many books on local history, folk art, antiques and natural science, and a well-stocked library of summer reading.
In late June, the shallow harbor waters warm up and the opportunities for swimming, floating and boating fun from the large private pier are varied and tempting. You can paddle over to the village, out to the sea islands, to the local pubs or to the local yacht fleet to meet sailors from the world over. Or if you just wish to be profoundly lazy and enjoy the views, there's no better place to do that in the entire Province than from the pier, porch and lawn of Loon Lodge.
You will never be bored at Loon Lodge on Mahone Bay Harbor, but you will be relaxed and happy. Email us anytime for more information, more photos or to make a reservation for your 221 summer vacation. jen1722terry@gmail.com
