Well the first day we got there, one of us got locked in the bathroom because the doorknob fell off. We told the person in charge about it and she said they would fix it. Instead they just put it back on the way it was. Since there was no cell service, we ended up getting stuck in the bathroom practically every day. When we got a hold of her she said she would be back with another door lock and never did. To boot, we realized also that the plumbing underneath the sink wasn't hooked properly. My daughter tried to fix it as it was draining all over the bottom of the cupboard. One other thing we noticed was that you can't lock the outside door when you go out. It just doesn't lock. Maybe that's why, when you are given the key to the cottage, it is in the door lock as you walk in. They also should of had more screens for the amount of windows there was, as it got really hot in there even at night. When we left, I cleaned the cottage and yard better than what it was. You think we would of got some compensation. Couldn't make a fire all the time we were there but that is understandable considering what was going on; but she shouldn't of told us we could anyways. If you were to ask me what I enjoyed the most, it would be watching my grandchildren play in the lake. So the lake. .

Owner response:
Brigitte, it's too bad that you didn't have a good vacation. This is the first time that I have ever regretted renting our cabin to someone. If you recall I did ask for your address so I could return your deposit long before you even came. I apologize that the bathroom door was buggered up but as you are aware there isn't a Walmart near by that I can just go grab one. I've never had anyone complain about it prior to your arrival. As far as the kitchen sink goes, when you told me I immediately had someone come to fix it for you. Your grandchildren were so excited to be there and I wanted them to be able to enjoy every aspect of it, including a small fire for marshmallows. I also asked you to put it out right after the kids had their fill. It was all about the kids. In regards to the screens, maybe if you had taken the blanket off of the patio door you might have been able to get a breeze come in off the lake and go through the cottage for some cooler air.

We had an awesome time @ K&L! No Cell Service, No WIFI, No Noise & Hustle & Bustle of the City. EXACTLY what we were looking for. Our kids never left the property the entire week, but they were NEVER bored! They played like kids- played in the water, explored the forest, caught frogs & crayfish, and just enjoyed nature. The people we encountered, including Lisa were all so friendly & helpful. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to really get away from it all. Advice: pack enough clothes so you dont need to do laundry at all (no public laundry within an hr) and food so you dont need multiple trips into town (no big groceries stores within about a 45min drive and the corner store is expensive & limited selection)

We had a wonderful relaxing vacation . The views were amazing . Everything was fantastic recommend you buy food on your way up as the local store is very expensive

Let me start of by saying that my family and I, including our German Sheppard Atlas, thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

When we got there, we were a bit put off by the recycleable left behind by the previous renters. When we mentioned this to Lisa, she offered to make up for it, which was refreshing.

Now that we've gotten the only negative exception to our stay, let's get to the good stuff. Three rooms with all the amenities you need to enjoy nature. 3 comfortable rooms, built around the kitchen and living room with the washroom tucked away. Bring your own linen, though we were happy to find some basic supplies already available in case you forgot :) (toilet paper, dishwashing soap). There is no cell or wifi coverage, which was a welcoming break for us. If we wanted coverage, we went into town which is about 10kms from the cottage.

Did I mention that my son discovered a VHS player and ended up loving old movies, like Dr Dolittle and the Addams Family?

The main attraction was outside the cottage! The two cottages, side by side, is great for family gatherings with Lake Memesagamesing as your view. Plenty of dry wood for a fire pretty much every night. I am fairly certain our dog thought Mom and Dad had moved to a park! He was in absolute heaven.

The town nearby is Port Loring, population approximately 800 (according to locals). You can get all your supplies in town; however if you're expecting a Supercenter, Shoppers, there's no pleasing you.

This was our 3rd year staying at K L Cottages. We love everything about it. The lake is beautiful, good fishing and great for swimming right off the dock. The rustic cottage is perfect for getting away from the city and lifes worries. See you next year.
