Notes
The log cabins were built in 1947 when the area was flooded to create a reservoir for electricity generation at Arnprior. They have been rebuilt and updated in the last 10 years. The driveway leading to the cabins is actually part of the historic Opeongo settlement road.
Low density accommodation provides for more escape from city life. All nature activities are self directed.
Campsites are groomed and have sturdy picnic tables. Each has its own firepit, except for group sites, which have one firepit to share.
The campground is not brightly lit or covered in concrete and gravel. It is a walkaround premises, driving within the grounds is unnecessary unless you have a genuine mobility problem. There is no store on site, 2 km away in Madawaska there are 2 variety stores, a takeout bar, gas, bait, and an outfitter. Note: On site camper firewood, canoe rentals, and bedding service for the cabins, but no tuck shop. Instead the grounds are treed, wildflowers and native grass
