Booking 2024 $1095/ week (no additional add-on fees) Peaceful, Private, Tranquil and great fishing too! In lovely Combermere - Madawaska Valley.
This cozy, rustic (Honeymoon) cottage has 2 bedrooms (with a comfy Queen bed in each) and is located on a 'Point' of land that fronts the beautiful Madawaska River. With this view you feel like you are the only one on the river most times.
This housekeeping cottage sleeps up to 4 people, has a fridge, full service kitchen (w/ dishes, pots, pans etc), microwave, toaster oven, coffeemaker, bath and shower. We are on crisp well water but have a Brita On-Tap Water Purifier for your use so no need to bring bottled water with you unless you wish to. Ceiling fans are located in each room and you have a cosy, open well lit front porch for morning coffee or late night reading. You have a private, beautiful dock on your private beach. In addition, you have your own fire pit steps from the beach and a charcoal BBQ grill with a picnic table nearby....perfect! Plenty of free firewood for those evening campfires on the bank of the River.
We are located on the shores of the beautiful Madawaska River and this cottage has over 100' of private sandy beach (Southern Exposure) that is great for swimming as our beach is a gradual slope in the water. No weeds! You have access to an island about 350' offshore that is perfect for camping or if you have little ones, a paddling adventure. Bring your own boat, there is a boat launch in town (Combermere) or very reasonable boat/canoe/kayak rentals are available nearby.
We are on the merging of two rivers that represent over 75km of navigable waterways, and this offers great fishing and boating. As we are in a Bay, the waters are calm and are the home of a generation of Loons that visit every summer....and very friendly ducks.
If you want to get away for peace, quiet, family time or just to unplug and rest, this is it. We face Crown parkland so the scenery hasn't changed in 80 years and we think we have the best views on the river.
We'll provide the beach chairs and the view...come, relax, read or do some fishing in one of the prettiest spots on in the Valley. Don't worry if you get a rainy day during the week, there is nothing like curling up with a book, working a puzzle or a nap listening to the rain on the tin roof. We do have a small DVD player in the cottage just in case the little ones want a movie (DVD rentals are available in town at the General Store).
Located 2.5 hours due west of the Ottawa airport and 3.5 hours northeast of Toronto, 40 mins to Bancroft, 15 mins to the big 'town' of Barry's Bay and the village of Combermere is close enough to run to the market by bike, car or boat for an ice cream or a coffee at the cafe.
Cell phone coverage is strong & available and free wifi in town. If you want to explore the area, there are walking, biking and ATV trails nearby. Whitewater rafting is close by and Algonquin park is a short 45 minutes away. If you like to golf, there are two golf courses in the area.
Guests allowed: Yes but no over-nighters/tents/campers please. Entertaining guests is very much part of cottage life: however the maximum number of persons determined for the cottage is based on the capacity of the septic system and the number of beds. Please do not exceed the maximum number of persons allowed with regard to guests. Also, your thoughtful consideration that sound carries a distance across water and of your valley neighbors desire for quiet and privacy will be appreciated.
Saturday to Saturday rentals please Heating: Baseboard Smoking/Vaping: Yes. Outside Only, butts to be containerized and disposed of safely Pets: we will consider a well behaved pet conditional they stay off the furniture w/ $100 pet fee and agreement to pet policy. It is recommended to book early. You can also view our other cottage 'the Bay' #GL12080 for availability
Unlike other rental sites we don't charge any hidden or additional fees. You book directly with me, the owner, and we are onsite in our own cabin far enough away so you have your privacy but close enough to assist you if you have any questions as well. You can find us on Facebook too, search 'Grams Cabins'

| Wonderful cottage. Wonderful hosts. Amazing views and very tranquil. We will be back hopefully, everything was perfect. Beach is nice and sandy and the surrounding area is in a good condition. Combermere is a nice town and Barry's bay is close by. Thank you Lorna and Tina for your hospitality!

| My 2 daughters and I stayed in the Bay cottage! It's a clean, traditional old school cottage. That everyone should experience!! The beach is clean with amazing views of the lake, water is perfect for swimming, fishing from the dock is pretty awesome too!!! My kids and I absolutely enjoyed this place. Can't wait to come back!!!

| The Bay cottage is a beautiful place. The best spot is a front porch and the lake view from it, amazing. We enjoyed evening campfires with plenty of firewood provided. Starry sky with milky way. Relaxing time. Quiet time. Serenity. That was what we needed.
Although Lorna couldn't be there to meet us, we could easily communicate with her. She seems like a lovely lady.
Hopefully we will be back in the following years.

Owner response: Thank you so much for visiting and I'm so sorry with the border situation we couldn't be there in person to host you but I know you were in the best of hands with our dear friend Rick. Yes, our little space of serenity is my most favorite place on earth! I look forward to hopefully meeting you upon your return to Grams Cabins. ~Lorna

| I really do wish that I could tell you that the cottage is in horrible condition and it's not cute and cozy. That the fishing off of the dock was downright terrible and the view is a dump..... just so no one would rent this serene and beautiful cottage and I could keep it to myself every summer. But unfortunately the truth is the complete opposite. From the moment you pull to this little gem you realize that the view is better than in the pictures. The cottage itself is cute and cozy and you can feel the love that was put into building it. Although the weather was windy and it rained a bit, it did not stop my wife:children and I from having a wonderful time fishing and exploring the bay with the boats. During the rain we would play some board games while the tin roof echoes peacefully with rain. Lorna is a wonderful woman to communicate with, and thanks to Anthony as well for being around to give us some tips and answer any questions. So please do not rent this cottage if your looking for a peaceful and back to the roots kind of experience. Thanks Lorna for sharing this spot, we WILL be returning next summer :)

Owner response: Ryan, I'm so happy you and your family were able to come, unplug and enjoy our little piece of heaven...a little rain on the roof does the soul good I think. :) We hope to be up there next summer to meet you in person...until then, we'll pray the border opens and the Leafs have a good next season. Warmly, Lorna

| My family had a wonderful first time here for a week and wished we could stay longer. Perfect position by the lake with its own dock and the gradual depth of the lake perfect for my 6 year old. Cottage is well kitted out and plenty of space for us, not that we spent much time inside except for one day of rain. The views outside were too good to miss! Great hosts and communication. We will definitely be back next summer.
