Description
|
For those looking for accomodations that will make their Gros Morne experience even more memorable, Periwinkles is a special place.
Periwinkles is the original homestead of the Mudge family, whose pioneer family fishing enterprise at Broom Point is an official Gros Morne heritage/interpretive exhibit. We restored the classic Newfoundland outport features, and celebrate the magnificent view with large oceanfront windows.
The location has great privacy and 'cottage' serenity, while also providing easy access to the amenities of the village and Park. Norris Point is the hub of all marine amenities in Gros Morne including sea kayaking, boat tours of Bonne Bay, and a convenient water taxi connection to the southern area of the Park --- all within a short stroll from Periwinkles cottage.
This is a fantastic base from which to access and explore all the park trails and sights, or a very scenic and comfortable place to stay put and relax....Periwinkles ensures a memorable Gros Morne visit, even if our infamous weather doesn't fully co-operate! (If the weather does impede your getting 'out-and-about', we have Cable TV, DVD, VHS, a selection of movies and board games, novels, and reading materials on Gros Morne and the province.)
Norris Point is one of 3 fishing villages on Bonne Bay which were left as 'enclave' settlements within the footprint of Gros Morne National Park. Most of the Park's most popular hiking trails, attractions and exhibits are less than 20 kms from Norris Point including Western Brook fiord, the Park's most iconic feature.
For families, Periwinkles offers a wonderful, safe place for young children to play and explore. The beach and tidal pools are literally a few steps down the garden path.
Please note that for the enjoyment and comfort of all our guests, we do not allow any pets --- no exceptions.
We also maintain a strict smoke-free environment, again for the health and enjoyment of all our guests. There are many other accomodations in the park that do welcome smokers.
Periwinkles is tastefully furnished and decorated, with everything required for a comfortable stay:
