Welcome- "Peaceful Oasis" is one of 17 privately owned cottages situated on a 12 beautiful treed acre property that is offered on rent. Should you require more than one cottage we can help you with that. This beautiful waterfront cottage is located on the north shores of Rice lake, Ontario. This cottage has an open concept living room / dining area with large windows and sliding glass doors to provide a panoramic view of Rice Lake.
Peaceful Oasis is a 3 bedroom rental. It sleeps 6 adults and 1 kid.
The cottage is only 30 feet from the water and has a direct un-interrupted view of Rice Lake.
This renovated cottage has 900 square feet of living space. An newly renovated open concept kitchen(2019) , dining & living area that also looks out onto the lake.
The main living area has 1 sofa bed, electric fireplace, a television and DVD player and dining area. The kitchen is fully outfitted with cooking range, microwave, Coffee maker, Keurig machine, refrigerator, toaster oven, toaster and plenty of cupboard and counter space. THERE IS NO CABLE TV. Internet available.
We have a water cooler dispenser with distilled water for drinking. The cottage has 2 FULL- 3 piece washrooms that have been upgraded with modern fittings including a modern spacious shower and tub.
The deck provides a lovely view of the lake and sunsets over the water. The deck comes equipped with comfortable lounge chairs to enjoy outdoor meals and a BBQ. There is a large fire pit where you can join other cottagers for some singing, roast some marshmallows or just some casual conversation.
Peaceful Oasis at Elm Grove Cottage Resort is located on the north shore of scenic Rice lake at the mouth of the Otonabee River, a hotspot for fishing. Known to have the highest concentration of fish per square mile in Ontario, Rice Lake is a fishing hot spot. Bring your boat or just sit on our semi- private dock and try your luck at catching Walleye, Pan Fish, Muskie or Bass.
The sunrise is breathtaking over the calm waters with swans, ducks and and our blue heron on the docks. At night you will often see the serene moon on the horizon!
The resort is only 1-1/2 hours from Toronto and 1 hour from Ajax/Pickering/Whitby/Oshawa.
There is a restaurant and gas station only 2kms from the resort and several Churches within 15kms from the resort.
If Fishing is not your thing, no worries we have many quaint places and restaurants in the city of Peterborough and surrounding areas where you can visit. Muddy's Pit BBQ at Keene is 15 minutes from our resort if you're looking for some delicious wood smoked ribs. If you drive into Peterborough City, you will find a lot of things to do as well including indulging in the popular Kawartha Dairy Bar, Chasing the Cheese, One Eyed Jacks restaurant and many more. Peterborough is also famous for their Lift locks.
Fresh farm eggs, chicken and pies are available by a family all summer, who live close to the gas station on the road that leads to the cottage.
You can bring your own boat(1) and dock it for free during your stay.
The Lake connects to the Trent Severn Waterway via the Otonabee River.

Take Hwy. 401 East through Bowmanville to the Hwy. 115/35 interchange.
Follow Hwy 115 North to PETERBOROUGH.
Watch for the BENSFORT ROAD exit #54
Turn right on BENSFORT ROAD and follow it to COUNTY ROAD 2 or CR2.
Turn left on CR2 and follow it East. Watch for HIAWATHA LINE. Sign for ElmGrove Cottages after The Three Roads Farm Store.
Turn right on HIAWATHA LINE and follow it south to Rice Lake.
At the stop sign, PAUDASH STREET, turn right and continue 2.2kms to ELM GROVE COTTAGES on the left.
Take a right on PAUDASH STREET and drive 2.2kms to arrive at Elm Grove Cottage, up the hill on the left.
SCENIC DIRECTIONS
If travelling during the day, here is a picturesque route with similar travelling time and distance.
Do not take the 115/35 Peterborough exit on 401, continue another 28kms East on 401 to exit 464 BEWDLEY/PORT HOPE.
Turn right on exit 464 and right again at traffic light to 28 north. Drive 18.2kms
Turn right on CR2 / Welcome to BAILEBORO sign and after 7kms turn left at stop sign to continue on CR2 for another 12kms to arrive at HIAWATHA LINE/CR31.
Turn right on CR31/HIAWATHA LINE and drive 5.3kms to arrive at PAUDASH ST.- Old Railroad Gas Station.
(Gas station is in front and a left turn leads to the boat launch)
Take a right on PAUDASH STREET and drive 2.2kms to arrive at Elm Grove Cottage, up the hill on the left.
AVOID TRAFFIC AT RUSH HOUR DIRECTIONS
Avoiding 401 traffic on week-ends which normally gets heavy from Durham to Oshawa.
Take Hwy407 from Brock Road in Pickering or any other exit off the 401E that leads to the 407. Exit left at Bowmanville Ave.
Continue straight on Bowmanville Ave(CR57) till you come to RR #20.
At RR#20 take a right and drive until you reach the first traffic light.
Continue straight through the traffic light to the Hwy 115 N(Peterborough). This is the Boundary Road exit on Hwy115.
Follow Hwy 115 North to PETERBOROUGH.
Watch for the BENSFORT ROAD exit #54. Take a slight left, then right onto Bensfort Road.
Turn right on BENSFORT ROAD and follow it to COUNTY ROAD 2 or CR2.
Turn left on CR2 and follow it East. Watch for HIAWATHA LINE- which comes just after The Chicken Store.
Turn right on HIAWATHA LINE and follow it south to Rice Lake. Be aware of your speed on these roads.
At the stop sign, PAUDASH STREET, turn right and continue 2.2kms to ELM GROVE COTTAGES on the left.
From OTTAWA:
Follow Hwy. 7 West. Just before Peterborough, turn left on HERITAGE LINE to KEENE.
In KEENE, turn right on CR2 and watch for HIAWATHA LINE on your left.
Turn left on HIAWATHA LINE and follow it south to RICE LAKE.
At the stop sign, PAUDASH ST., turn right and continue about 2.2kms to ELM GROVE COTTAGES on the left.
From THE EAST:
Hwy. 401 West to BRIGHTON.
North on Northumberland Rd. 30 through CODRINGTON.
Turn left at the flashing light on CR 29 to WARKWORTH.
In WARKWORTH, turn right onto CR 25 to HASTINGS.
Cross the Trent River, and at the top of the hill, turn left onto CR 2.
Follow CR2 through KEENE and watch for HIAWATHA LINE on the left.
Turn left on HIAWATHA LINE and follow it south to RICE LAKE.

| Our group had 19 people stay together at the resort, my family was in cottage 9 and we had 3 other families rent from different owners. From the very start, the process was simple and all the owners were very accommodating to our needs. Cottage 9 was clean and had everything that we could need for our stay. The lake was beautiful and the birds and wildlife we saw daily was amazing.

| We had a fantastic stay at Peaceful Oasis. First of all, communication with owners before arriving was always friendly, timely and helpful. The cottage itself was clean, tidy and well-equipped. We loved the fact that air conditioning was available in each room. The kitchen had everything we needed. The bathrooms were spacious and so clean. The whole place really exceeded our expectations. The view was lovely, the lake was great for swimming, fishing and kayaking. Everyone we met there was friendly and helpful.
All in all, we had an excellent time and have already recommended the cottage to friends. Hope to return one day! Thank you to Delina and Cheron!

| The view from the cottage of the lake was beautiful. We enjoyed having the air conditioning.
The kitchen is well equipped but on the whole the cottage needs some work. Knobs were missing on drawers, and the wood work in the cottage needed work. Liked the two bathrooms but the bed off the ensuite was not great for my back because of the mattress. We also noticed a lot of rocks in the water which made it difficult to really get into the lake. There was ample room for the four of us and we relaxed. We liked the Chicken store near by and the town of Peterborough is not too far.

We have done alot of work to the cottage and keep on updating each year a little bit. As for the water and the rocks, that is out of our control. We try to move the rocks to the shoreline by our docks. We normally always wear water shoes in the water and that helps. | As soon as I opened the front door it felt welcoming and homey...the patio door view of the lake incredibly beautiful! The layout of the cottage was fantastic and 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms all a good size. Having individual air conditioning and fans in every room was a pleasant surprise. Kitchen full of everything we needed, only one small complaint was no cupboard space for food but adequate counter space. Renters easy to communicate with via email and prompt responses. On our couple of rainy days DVDs available to watch on the tv. Firepit just across the driveway, good space for parking boat trailers as well as vehicles. Highly recommend this cottage..it is a Peaceful Oasis!
