Waterfront

Delightful cottage on one of the most picturesque, quiet stretches of beach on the Ottawa River.

Child friendly, gradual walkout swimming; small aluminum boat for use (your motor if desired); dock usage if you have your own boat; paddleboat available. Great fishing. Opportunities for canoeing, golfing, hiking, biking, kayaking and white water rafting. Clean flowing river which is so wide at that point that it is called Allumette Lake according to the map.

Historical & cultural points of interest indigenous to the area (i.e. breathtaking waterfalls and canyons in nearby Coulonge Arial Park; Pembroke offers giant heritage murals, shopping, Champlain Trail Museum, the Hydro Electric Museum, waterfront park with its walk and amphitheater, theatrical playhouse, movie theater, restaurants, and more. Nearby Algonquin Provincial Park provides wonderful opportunities for camping and nature exhibits and experiences. The quaint town of Eganville provides Bonnechere Caves. All in all there are many great family adventure spots in vicinity. If you wish to sample yummy cinnamon buns just head to Carl's Bakery in the local village of Chapeau on Allumette island. Chapeau also offers a new eatery, post office, bank, Tech Center, and grocery store for short runs. And only a few miles further we have night entertainment with Irish music at George's Tavern; plus mouthwatering home cooking to die for at Northfork's Country Place nestled in the foothills of the Laurentian Mts. Fort Willlilam offers a rustic experience from the past. You can be as busy or laid back as you choose to be.

Our family of 4 spent a week at the crows nest and thoroughly enjoyed it! Our kids (3, 5) loved playing in the sand, collecting "gems", swimming in the shallow water, picking up the clams, going on the pedal boat and row boat, and exploring nearby caves! We had such a relaxing week and had everything we needed close by. The shop nearby was well stocked in the event you forgot something and the restaurant "La Gare" was cozy and made you feel welcome. Pembroke is close enough to if you needed a bigger shop! Sunsets were just amazing and the entire area was just peaceful. Great view of the sunsets by the firepit - only downfall is there wasn't any seats around the firepit (we got outdoor folding chairs in Pembroke). The cottage itself was great and well stocked with everything you might need for your stay. Cell reception was fantastic at the cottage for making calls or checking for directions but no internet which to us was a bonus because we really got away from all the screens (even the kids didn't mind not having a tablet). Kari was responsive the entire time and seemed happy to answer all questions. She returned the security deposit quickly and no need to ask about it. Just amazing and the kids are already asking to go back next summer

Great memories made here! Cottage was exactly as advertised. We have a family of 4 with a very tall teenager and the sleeping arrangements worked well with the pull out couch. Beautiful sunsets led to awesome fires every night. The water was great for swimming and fishing. My kids want to come back next year to try the full day at Fort Cologne! (Highly recommended zip lining /obstacle corse.) Only warning....do not eat the Chesley buns from the bakery in Chapeau....they are addictive! A great place to relax. A hotspot works if you have a teen that needs a bit of screen time. Lots of great places to bike. Will come back for sure!

To say we had a wonderful family vacation at Crows Nest is an understatement! The location is simply perfect for a relaxing family friendly getaway!

The cottage is well equipped, Kari was so helpful and the neighbours in the surrounding cottages were just lovely!

The water and beach area is perfect especially for a little one, we really enjoyed taking the paddle boat out.

There is lots to do in the surrounding area of Pembroke and Petawawa (be sure to check out Petawawa point beach too)

We enjoyed our evenings with a fire on the beach watching the most amazing sunsets!

You won't be disappointed Isle Allumette is a gem! Also- be sure to check out Karl's bakery in Chapeau!! The Chelsea bread is incredible.

Great get away to Crows Nest Cottage week of Aug 22-Aug 29.
Wonderful /quiet/secluded location for relaxing get away. Our grandchildren enjoyed the amenities offered at the beach(shallow water, soft sand) & playing "pirates" with the paddle-boat.

The cottage is close enough to Pembroke & Petawawa to take advantage of walking trails, parks and "local coffee shops and other shopping .

Being across the river from Petawawa was a thrill for my grandsons; seeing the "soldier helicopters" flying by.

Thank you for the privilege of using Crows Nest during this time period.

Crows Nest Cottage was just what we needed. It is a home away from home. The location is amazing as it is isolated but close enough to a large town to get anything you need. It is located on a property with three other cottages but you feel like you have the entire place to yourself. The neighbors are very friendly but give you privacy as well. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you need and can easily accommodate 5 people. We had two adults and three teenagers and there was lots of room. The beach is simply amazing. It is shallow and sandy. There are tons of islands that can be explored. We brought a paddleboard and a canoe and spent many hours on the water. Every night, we had a campfire on the beach and watched the sunset. Breathtaking! We are counting down the days until we can go back again.
