Description
|
Victorian fisherman's cottage completlely renovated in 2009. Warm, comfortable, ideal for relaxing. Living room, dining area and kitchen are combined into a large open area. Bay windows give a wonderful view of the harbor. The sun rises directly behind the house, and goes down in front over Cockawit Bay, which makes almost every evening a spectacle of colour. Many guests relax on the couch with a book and watch as clouds and fog move in an out and colors change with the sun's trajectory. There is a road between the house and the water, so children and pets must be watched. Traffic increases somewhat around 8 and again at 5, but most of the day it is quiet.
A delightful setting off the usual tourist highspots, in a town with many victorian homes along the single road, two small fishing harbors, a walking trail along the former railroad track, and easy access to wonderful beaches, fabulous birding, Acadian culture sites (at Pubnico) and historical spots (in the Barrington-Shellbourne direction). Some guests have brought canoes to travel on salt water nearby, others make outings to Pubnico, Yarmouth (fabulous museum), etc. Lovely sand beaches are about 20 km off, those nearby are rocky. The view from the house across Cockawit Bay never ceases to amaze and almost put one under a spell.
Waterfront: the house sits on the side of the road opposite the water Heating: propane fireplace and baseboard electric Smoking: No. $400 extra fee if butts or the smell of cigarette smoke detected. It takes days to air out the place and wash all curtains and bedding. Pets allowed: Yes. if well trained, and owner prepared to give a damage deposit beforehand
Equipments:
A bathroom with shower sits beside the downstairs bedroom/study. Upstairs a large bathroom has a bath on legs from which one has an angled view of the water. There is a breakfast nook on the landing upstairs at the back, with fridge and microwave and at the front of the landing a table and chairs to sit and read and look out the window at the bay. The kitchen has a washer and dryer. We now have TV and internet connections (though some of our guests liked it more when there was none).
